    cabin height & stability

If he had said a 1248 I'd agree, but there are very few of those out there. He specified a 12' by 4' boat. If I were talking about my 1648 jon boat in terms of size I would say that it is a 16' x 6' boat, not 16' x 4'. My 1236 jon boat is 12' x 4'.

    cabin height & stability

Tippy. Unless you are super agile and weigh under 100lbs, you would definitely know. Most 4' wide boats are in the 32-40" bottom width range. I've got a 12x48" jon boat so it is more stable then a "v" at rest. I', 185lbs and I can sit all the way to one side on the rear seat and will have water...

Before you buy a 12'x4' to put a cabin on you better go out in one first.

    gas or electric?

He's saying go with electric. A 55lb thrust Minn Kota or Motorguide should be just fine. Pair that with a 100ah TimeUSB battery and you will likely be set for 2 or 3 days of use before charging.

Which OMC tank for my Johnson motor?

The old dual line tank fittings actually have 3 "pins". One for each line and then a securing pin in the middle.

    12ft MirroCraft Electrical project help

You're likely only getting about 43lbs of trust from that trolling motor using it at 12 volts.

What are they measuring in a Jon boat

Most manufacturers using the 1448 are talking about 14' length and 48" bottom width. Never have seen a designation of 15.550

Need help2015 merc 60 40 four stroke jet with 56 hours.

The word I was looking for was analyzer, not decoder (or cheap scan tool). Most engine analyzers (on cars at least) give you reading from all the sensors while the engine is running. Fuel, pressures, throttle position, timing, exhaust mixtures, etc. Haven't been to a marine repair shop in over...

Need help2015 merc 60 40 four stroke jet with 56 hours.

What? $1K, that's crazy. Anyway it definitely sounds like a fuel issue (so not sure why they replaced the plugs). I only works on carbs, but not sure why they go right to replacing injectors, but I'd think they can be cleaned for much less. I would think that the decoder should be able to...

    Prop tweaking advice needed

You've given us those speeds already. I was asking what the speed went down to when you say "Add wife and it drops to 5450rpm." What doesn't make sense to me is that (not sure of exact ratio but used a L/U ratio of 2/1 in calculations) you are going from a slip percentage of 5% to approx 15%...

    Fiberglass patch issue

If the look of it matters to you I'd hit the gap with a small ball peen hammer to bend the edges in a bit. Then get a tube of this and make the repair. They say it works when wet, but I'd make sure it's dry and knead together real good before applying. I've used this to fill holes before and...

    Prop tweaking advice needed

My guess is that one of those 2 props is mis-marked and not the exact pitch. You're talking less then 1" of pitch difference (6.6% different) that is leading to a 700rpm (12.8%) difference. What is the speed when the 3 of you are in boat and turning the 5450rpm? If those props are correct...

How about tearing off the patch and taking a pic?

    Fiberglass patch issue

Personally I would not put much faith in someone who looks at those pictures and gives you their "expertise" on how to fix that without saying they need to see what it looks like after you rip that "patch" off. I still think there is a very good possibility that it is an unnecessary "fix" that...

    Fiberglass patch issue

That keel sure looks "attached" to me. My guess is that someone probably dropped it on a rock and there is a hole in the keel (but not in the boat). Not leaking as the keel is not part of the bottom of boat. Prior owner probably saw hole and "thought" it needed to be sealed. Who knows (till you...
