Adding Railblaza tracks on an aluminum Jon with round edges?

Using notches in angle alum sounds good for achieving the bends needed. I installed approx. 80% of gunnels with t- track. It provided me with numerous options for accessories....bimini, rod holders, tool storage, etc. It was not expensive, nor difficult to install, so I opted for nearly full...

Adding Railblaza tracks on an aluminum Jon with round edges?

Yes, the boat gunnel arcs/bends as it moves towards the bow. The T track was able to bend and follow the gunnel. T Track is generic and was sourced from Amazon. It comes in various colors. Now, your alum angle will not bend. You'll have to use shorter pieces when you get to the section of...

Adding Railblaza tracks on an aluminum Jon with round edges?

I agree. The angle alum on round gunnel and them T track on flat surface would probably be your best option. I tapped and used machine screws on my install....personal preference.

Adding Railblaza tracks on an aluminum Jon with round edges?

To use the Railblaza accessories, I mounted some T track along the inside top extrusion (gunnel) on my former Alumacraft V16. It worked very well. https://www.tinboats.net/threads/gunnel-track-on-my-alumacraft-v16.50138/

    Filling old drill holes?

I’ve used, with great success… west system epoxy mixed with one of their fillers, defending on application. It’s pricey! OR Simple and quick…. SS Pan head sheet metal screw with Boat Life polysulfide sealant. I’ve learned on this forum to avoid using silicone on aluminum boats due to...

To PAINT or not to PAINT that is the question!

Appearance is what it comes down. I painted a Tracker V16 several years ago. It was originally a painted boat. It had quite a bit of dock rash and dents/gouges on bottom from beaching. I removed decals, sanded, primered, and painted. I also repaired some dents and gouges on hull bottom...

    Aluminum Console?

Not sure of this is what you are looking for..... I made this small side console for my former Alumacraft V16. It housed FF, fuse panel, bilge switch,12V power source, and main power switch. https://www.tinboats.net/threads/my-custom-side-console-for-tiller-steered-boat.49626/#post-490040

Just got a "new" old boat. I think it's a 16' Lone Star, but nothing really matches up.

Elgin, Viking, and Sears made a 12hp in the 60s

Transom bolts - what kind to use?

OP...please provide additional details....salt or fresh water, engine mounting bolts? If salt...beware...salt, alum, and SS = corrosion. If motor mounting bolts: If fresh, SS 316 is good. OEM bolts are typically 1/2" fine thread (or metric equivalent) with nylocs.

I love rivet nuts - but need some way to touch up the mistakes :)

Interesting....I was just thinking of purchasing a riv nut tool from HF. It was going to be used for lightweight items on travel trailer, boat, etc. mainly mounting lightweight items to thin gauge sheet metal. Not comfortable with the potential for slipping and causing removal issues...

    New Lowrance Eagle

I paid $999 at BPS for the HDS Live 9 one year ago. It is on sale now for 1099.00. When it drops to $$700-$800, I'll bite. It believe it will around November, if not sooner. It has been replaced with the Pro series.

    New Lowrance Eagle

In terms of FFs, like many things, you get what you pay for. I don't think an expensive fish finder makes you a better fisherman....time on the water (and lots of it), in your regular fishing grounds, does. However, having some level of depth and what is below you (structure, flats...

    Raising transom

I think your plan sounds good. Use quality epoxy and quality plywood. What thickness ply are you considering? Be sure to coat inner plywood holes with epoxy wherever you use through bolts.

Direct to Hull Mounting Stainless Transducer Bracket - Corrosion?

Not sure what grade Lowrance uses on their brackets, but I checked it with a magnet, and no attraction at all. Always fishing in fresh water reservoirs or the CO River!

Direct to Hull Mounting Stainless Transducer Bracket - Corrosion?

Thanks for the suggestions. Since the two original transom holes that were for the transducer that came with boat matched my new bracket, I decided not to add a HDPE sacrificial mounting plate. Instead, I used a 1/8"x2"x3" piece of ABS plastic between ss mounting bracket and hull. Used Boat...
