    1999 Starcraft Superfisherman Transom Restoration

That's a heck of a job you did there, I also have a 17' Starcraft SFM and think you will be well pleased with that boat once you get to use it, IMO, time and money well spent!

Help with trailer and winch setup

I've used both a roller and Y stops, on a V bow, like they say, 6 of 1, half dozen of the other, both serve the same purpose. On my flat bottom Jon, without a V bow, I have a flat carpeted board that goes against the bow that acts as both a stop and a cushion.

Help with trailer and winch setup

I never saw a setup like that, are there holes in the winch post which would allow you to move the winch mount up further on it. From your pics., it would appear that a rope/cable would go from the winch to the pulley and then to the bow eye, that may explain why a rope was on the winch instead...

Do I really "need" a casting deck?

I would also just want a floor on the bottom of a boat that size. I have a 1654 FB GRIZZLY that looks almost identical to what Billy H did, that boat is really stable, and I also saw no reason to put a deck on it. I also caught many many fish out of a 14' Mirrocraft deep V sitting on a seat...

    Timing

I just used a dwell meter and timing light after installing new wires, cap, rotor, and points on my 1966 Impala and I always know exactly where they are! If I remember correctly, dwell affects timing, but timing doesn't affect dwell, and I always set the dwell first, but that's on a car.

    Tin Walleye set ups

Trout seem to be different than Walleyes, we troll in 5-7' and go right over them trolling behind the boat which apparently doesn't bother them that much. A buddy of mine went to Lake Ontario to fish for shallow browns, he couldn't get a fish trolling behind the boat, he was told he should use...

    Tin Walleye set ups

I caught a lot of walleyes trolling shallow at night, my setup on a 14' Mirro craft was 1 rod in hand and 1 rod in a removable rod holder positioned in the middle of the bench seat, can't get much simpler than that! You could go with 2 downriggers mounted forward on the gunwales, that way you...

Filling in Pedestal Seat Holes in Marine Grade Plywood

With a "SLIM" chance that you may want to put a seat back in the boat, and want a flat deck, I would also go with LDUB' second suggestion. I have a 17' Starcraft SFM with 4 of the low-profile pin type seat bases in it, never seemed to be a problem, comes down to your call on what you want to do.

Watch Out for those Little F'ers!

Another thanks for sharing! Those little suckers can cause a lot of problems, anymore while turkey or archery deer hunting I have all my clothing treated with Sawyers permethrin, so far so good and have never had a tick on me while wearing permethrin treated clothing.

    Mercury 30hp 2 stroke 1995

Not sure. but I think the longer the distance the heavier the cable. Since you're running the cable from the bow to the stern you may need to go to a larger cable gauge.

    Military Battery Terminals- Questions

Maybe insert a thin brass/copper 5/16'" ID sleeve/bushing into the bolt holes and then use 5/16" bolts. If you have, or know someone who has a lead melting pot. you could probably fill the existing bolt holes with lead and redrill them to 5/16", there may be a better way, but those two come to...
