Lithium battery - worth the expense?

I read that the additional battery tariff will start sometime in 2024. No specific date.

Part Wanted Nissan 40hp tiller handle

I have that motor, and use to have the tiller control. I haven’t seen it in years, but will take a look, when I can.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

From FedEx tracking, the batteries will be at my house today! I won’t see them until Monday. I’ll start a separate thread on testing them.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

At nearly $1000, I’d be staying with LA batteries.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

I'm not sure which LiFePO4 mfgs are in the USA, if any. I do plan to test each battery with a full discharge test to verify the Ah is within the ballpark. I did this with my FF battery. The first brand failed, second was fine.

Does the New 50% Tariff on Li Batteries Apply to LiFePO4?

Apparently, the current tariff is 25% being increased to 50%. While not 100% clear, it sounds like LiFePO4 are on the list, because it was mentioned that Ford uses them in some trucks and mustangs. Also, some Tesla 3's.

Lithium battery - worth the expense?

With the newly announced 50% tariff on Li batteries, I went ahead and ordered two of the TimeUSB 100ah Pro batteries. $414 - $25 (Pro6 Discount Code) direct from TimeUSB. Free shipping. Thx Thill for your recommendations.

Does the New 50% Tariff on Li Batteries Apply to LiFePO4?

I might have jumped the gun, but just ordered two 100AH TimeUSB Pro batteries direct from them. $414 - $25 (Pro6 discount code). Thx Thill for the recommendation. PS: They are also raising the aluminum tariff, but not clear to me me by how much. It will drive new boat cost higher and...

    Trailer wheels worth upsizing?

IMO: If the 12’s have sufficient load capacity, wait until they need replacing. Then decide. Keep them inflated to the correct level. I never have worn a trailer tire out, and have some 12C. Sidewall cracking on aged tires, is was usually cause the need for replacing.

    Subfloor question

FWIW: I would not raise the floor 4" for the gas tank. That can be a significant COG change. Is there a lower profile plastic tank that will suffice? I think the aluminum would promote more water condensation, too. Was the OEM a couple of portable tanks?

Outboard rec for vintage 12ft Duranautic- 8, 9.9, or 15HP

I like the specs of the Tohatsu 9.9HP. It has one hundred cc more displacement (over 50% more) than the 9.8HP and looks to be the same block as the 15HP. It will have more torque to get on plane than the 9.8HP. If it is a lifting issue, and you are planning to be installing/removing the motor...

Outboard rec for vintage 12ft Duranautic- 8, 9.9, or 15HP

Most 15hp’s are “tuned” 10hp motors. A larger carb, different exhaust, ICM etc. They will usually have the same/similar torque for getting on plane, but the 15 will be able to achieve higher rpm’s, ie top speed. A 10hp is usually plenty for a 12’ boat and sounds like that is the max...

Need help2015 merc 60 40 four stroke jet with 56 hours.

The low hours for the age of the motor may indicate it sat for a while. The gas may have gummed up some part of the fuel system.
