Re: 1972 lund super resorter

I'm not super prudish when it comes to slightly overpowering a hull but that's quite a stretch. The low transom is something that will have you worrying everytime you see a wake coming from behind. You didn't mention of it was set up for tiller or console but either way I'd be looking for a lighter ...

Tremclad paint in Canada?

I used tremclad and a hardener from napa when I painted my 16' naden 3 years ago. It has held up fine. It is slow as all get out to dry. Also the hardener contains isocyanates so respirator use and ventilation is important. Another paint I have used is Korzite. It is also an enamel, is affordable an...

Re: FLOOR REPAIR

X2 on the bcx and old timers. I believe it is one part linseed one part spar urethane and 2 parts mineral spirits but hunt around on the site to confirm. There are several threads about it.

1983 35 hp Evinrude

When you pull it over does it go easily or do you feel the compression? If you pull it slow, you should be able to feel it " bup bup bup ". My point is both your numbers are the same so I'm guessing the gauge is reading low. If one was reading 110 and the other one 85 I'd be looking closer at the mo...

Re: Older 25hp Johnson

Looks to be around a 95ish motor. Also looks like it's been taken care of. X2 on the things mentioned above. Extremely good motors. I run the 35hp version from 83 and it runs perfectly and looks nowhere near as nice. The perfect motor for a 14-16' fishing boat in my opinion. Sent from my CLT-L04 usi...

Re: Downrigger Install

Why not. I use a similar board that I bolt to the oarlocks on my 16' aluminum. You could router a pocket in the board to fit over the cleat and allow the board to sit flat on the gunwale. Maybe use an aluminum plate on top where the u bolt comes through. Screw it down to the board on the corners to ...

Why not glue marine carpet to it? Keep the drain hole.

Get a bulkhead pipe fitting to go through the can.

Re: New guy first boat 12' Starcraft semi V

It's good to have a nice looking boat. It's even better to have kids fishing out of it. 20 years from now they will say "I remember fishing out of the red boat with you, dad".
Good job.

I don't think so but I'm not sure. They are made in Canada and have a good reputation.

Re: Boat brand rating

How long are you looking to keep it is a question you have to ask yourself. My friend just bought a 2000 Lund 17 ft walkthrough with a 115 Yamaha. We fished out of it all last season. If the condition of that 20 year old boat is any indication, he should be fishing out of it for a long time. On the ...
