Big Score this Morning

Costco for one is not taking returns from people who realized they didn’t need to buy 500 rolls of TP.

Downrigger Install

Make sure you back up the nuts on the cleats with big, heavy duty washers or metal plates. Down riggers put a lot of stress on whatever they are bolted to.

Minn Kota Ulterra or Terrova? Something else?

Yes, that’s how it works. If it’s on spot lock, it only comes on to move you back to the spot. If you just want it to make corrections to your direction while trolling with the gas motor, use the hand held remote to just bump you.

Stay at home order

I’m in Illinois too. Grocery stores will stay open as well as gas stations and other essential services. No need for stockpiling food. Others may be hoarding and upsetting the normal supply lines that are causing temporary shortages in stores. But there is no reason for anybody to be panicking.

Corona Virus

If we don’t takes the necessary precautions, all we have to do is look at Italy to show us how severe things could get. If no one spreads the virus, it would all be over in 3 weeks. Uncontrolled spreading will overload the hospitals and people will not be able to get the help they need which could c...

State of Illinois

I’ve got 2 boats with trailers so I got hit twice. The state is broke. They gotta pay for stuff somehow. I get them back though. Now that I’m retired, I don’t have to pay any state income tax on my retirement benefits and income.

Stand up stick steer??

I think the 60/45 will not have quite enough power. That’s a pretty good sized boat you’ve got there. I’m using a 50/35 on my 16x48 and wish I had your motor. Adding the live well filled with water will not help either. I’m only using a 6 gallon gas tank, no live well, and I have no additional stora...

spooling a bait caster

I use braided line which does not have any memory so it doesn’t matter which way the line comes off the spool.

Location of fish finders and transducers

I assume you are planning on mounting the front deck sonar’s transducer on the trolling motor? The side imaging transducer on the 7sv is pretty big. Depending on your TM, it may or may not fit on the motor. If you want to make use of the side view feature, you must understand that it really only wor...

Trolling Motor Question 1 of 2

TM stabilizer? Is that a way to secure the head of the motor while it is stowed? I’ve been using a Minn Kota TM with electric steer, I have a Terrova now, for at least 15 years and have never needed any stabilizer. The locking mechanism prevents the motor from deployment while it is stowed away.

Top or side mount controls?

I had a boat that started as a bare hull and my dealer added a center console. I let him choose where the motor control was mounted. Because my console isn’t very wide, it looks like the side mount was the only choice. Sorry for the hijack, are those snap on covers custom made? Yep. Tracy’s Custom ...

Which boat cover?

Do you intend to use the cover while you are towing it? If it’s just going to be used in storage, it doesn’t really matter which one you get. While towing is another story. I gave up using a cover for travel. Unless the cover is custom made (mine weren’t) None of them will fit perfectly and be diffi...
