1652 Build

Not sure why no r3plies, nice job.
Did you think about maybe buying a flat nose hull before this one?
It might have been easier to unload that lawn tractor.

Johnson 25hp question

Dave P. "It was rigged that way, two batteries in series for the 12V trolling motor for increased capacity." Series would be 24v ...parallel would give you 12v and more aH. Anyways like others have mentioned, sounds like a lot of weight in the stern. Without a tach , I'd remove the batteries and any...

Trying out props

I'm thinking the 15 will be too much pitch as well. I had a 2 stroke 40hp on a 16' hull and 13 pitch was pretty bang on, that's on a boat with only a 6 degree deadrise. The brochure doesn't say or I didn't see what type hull yours is. Like mentioned already the tach will tell you what pitch prop to ...

Induction tachs

Lol nope....never messed with it yet. Was thinking it was sealed but will have to look a bit closer. It's not blank screen but not reading accurately, might check the wires also(plus ground), before buying another. I don't look at it much, had the outboard along time , can tell if it's acting up. Se...

Throttle linkage help

Do I have the carbs backwards? I marked top an bottom before I removed them. Maybe the original owner was a worse mechanic than me... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Looks like it. Onthewater shows a good diagram, that roller looks like it needs to against that concave plate. Sent from my SM-T35...

Induction tachs

My tiny tach has finally started messing up so I guess I'm going to have to buy another.
Is the tiny tach still the go to hour meter tach, for older 2 stoke outboards?
Is anyone using another product(maybe cheaper) and having good results?

merc 25hp tiller 20" actual shaft length

Unsure on the measurement but depending on how far back your jack plate goes will make difference on how high you can run your outboard.

1996 Mariner 25hp tiller steer

I never had any luck with the outboard I currently have using muffs. Pumps excellent in a barrel or on the water but no tell tale with muffs just exhaust. If it's not pumping well with muffs don't run it to long....try a barrel or make sure the muffs are real tight with good water pressure. Even in ...

35 Vs 40 hp

Has anyone on this forum had trouble insuring an over horsepowered boat? I always read that statement but don't know if there is actual real life experiences or just hear say. I've been over rated(not now)by 5hp never had an issue with either insurance or DNR...but I'm in Canada. Was always told the...

New 2017 25hp 4 stroke efi yamaha

Nice review , keep us updated with any future "discoveries". I just can't kill my old 86, 30hp Mariner(Yamaha) but the noise gets to me sometimes. I've looked at this outboard as a replacement, due to its weight and reliability but at only 432cc was thinking some reviews were exaggerated. My boats a...

Bought a used but not used boat. Should I do anything?

Have to ask, where did u find a new old(ish) combination like that?
If from a dealer I doubt it has fuel or oil in it....
Double check to see if all fluids have been added, read the owners manual about suggested break ins and enjoy.
Pictures are great :)

I'd leave as is....any lower and the motor will likely throw water; being to far in the water.
