Diminishing returns on motor size

I have a 1448MV. 1st motor was a 72 25hp tiller johnny, no fun. Then jumped up to a 76 40hp tiller johnny, started to get a smile. Added a cmc pt135 TnT with set back, then prop limitations. I did like the balance of the boat with the big twin, so I obtained a 81 50hp console steer johnny, better. O...

Good place to buy parts?

Its always nice to establish a relationship between a local dealer and you. Buy locally whenever possible. This way they will still be there when you may need them! ^^^^^^^^^^^^ +1 Keep it local! My worthless $.02 opinion, From past experience, substituting for cheaper after market parts has burned...

General jon

... The motor is a late 80s 25HP Johnson tiller with electric and recoil start. The starter is locked up and the recoil starter is missing all of the bolts to secure it to the motor. The only way to turn the motor over is to wind a rope around the flywheel and give it a good pull. Using this method...

I Love the Smell of Outboards in the Morning.....but

All I can say is; what octane of fuel and what oil you use??

Nothing like a good shot of two stroke smoke when you use the good stuff.

Then again I'm pretty partial of any good quality spent fuel :D smells

Securing boat battery to floor

It sounds like you are just anchoring the battery box, that leaves the battery free to bounce around.

Guess I have been doing it wrong. I tie down the battery in the box, and then use the strap to hold the lid on.

I want a Motorcycle

Go for it. Just a few thoughts to ponder: recommend the motorcycle safety course, never hurts for the skill set refreshment. Dress for the crash, not the ride. GEAR, GEAR, GEAR, GEAR!! There are a lot of distractions for cage'rs now days when on the highways, that raises the odds of being bit. Dirt ...

gravity live well

on my jon, my gravity live well has a threaded drain, or fill however you look at it. I have a pump with removable base (snaps together and a part very easy) screw base in drain hole. I use that to file the live well quickly and to circulate the water. Have spry nozzle on top. I also have a circulat...

motor height question

I ran an 76 40hp johnny non through hub exhaust on a CMC PT-130 trim unit. It was a little finicky with trimming up. They just do not like the height that a through hub exhaust will run. Water pressure gauge kept telling me to lower. Barrel run, I notice it was a little sensitive on the water level ...
