More H.P. ??

good story.anyway, the 15 hp 2 stroke is basically a maxed out 9.9.you can play around with prop sizes and improve your hole shot a little,or lose bottom end for slightly higher top speed but overall you aren't going to get much more out of it.even bumping up to a 25 you'll likely see maybe a 5 mph g...

Motor selection

new or used? what are there for dealers in your area and do you plan to fish local, mostly? for 25/30 i'd go tohatsu or etec.tohatsu for value and etec for ease of maintenance, plus power.nothing will out pull an etec.i've got over 300 hours on my 40 and i haven't done a thing to it,it's more efficie...

Soft or hard cooler?

i freeze milk jugs with water and a little bleach.tape the caps on and reuse them till they are unuseable.i usually get a whole season out of them.usually good for 2 days before i have to refreeze them.no water in the cooler and your sandwitches don't get soggy.

disabling livewell

i plugged mine with a livewell plug.same as the transom plug but smaller diameter.can't remember the exact size though.i also filled the overflow with black exterior spray foam insulation that comes in a spray can when i converted my live well to a cooler.

Soft or hard cooler?

i also had the same dilemma with my last boat.since it's illegal to transport live fish in my area the new boats live well was converted to a cooler.can't affect the resale and it drains into the bilge.holds ice for days.it's 1.5 inches thick all around.best mod i've done on the boat yet.

For those of you with bimini tops

one of the better additions to my boat.it's mounted backwards and allows us to troll with the bimini up.

Rivet Nuts or Rivets

i used a combination of rivnuts, lots and lots of rivets and for securing my upper plywood deck i used sundeck vinyl and stainless screws.never had any back out.i used red threadlocker for all the rivnuts holding the lower deck and all the seat bases down.
