I have a 19' bass boat with a Motor Guide 80lb thrust 24v trolling motor on the bow. It has a 4 prong plug in on the front deck and the wires run to the back of the boat where there are 2 batteries. There are 4 positive and 4 negative wires. 2 positive and 2 negative wires are for the onboard charge...
I am in the market for another bait caster, as the only ones I have are on the lower end and I want something of better quality. I am not biased to any brand so I have been browsing for a deal during the past few months. I am thinking about buying an Abu Garcia Black Max bait caster as I have read t...

I am in the process of replacing the head gasket on a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke. It is ready to go back together but i do not know what tightness to set my torque wrench to when putting in the head bolts. Does anyone know how many pounds per foot or inch it should be set to?
This morning I received a flyer from Walmart in the mail composed of only fishing and camping products. It looks like they are having a spring sale on reels, rods and tackle. Anyone else notice this flyer?
Is the oil level ok? I mean..not full but between the marks? Couple things about 4 stroke engines, specifically outboards. They will "make" oil...if idled a lot. Meaning the oil level rises after a while. Mine takes about 5-6 trips to the river where it's mostly idle speed only (shallow) for about ...
Yes, I bought it last May. It was in great condition when I bought it but the oil problem started right away once I ran it strongPBRMINER wrote:Worth fixing it and doing it right. take it you bought it used?
I have a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke that has been giving me much trouble. It runs great but after running at high rpm's for a few minutes it will loose power, drop to idle, start smoking and leak oil from the midsection into the water. I cant seem to figure out the problem. I have it winterized, but...

Unlike most people, I am pleasantly surprised on the performance of my motor. I have a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke. This motor is huge compared to all other 5hp single cylinder motors. The lower unit is much heavier than the mercury and Honda motors and it actually weights 70 pounds. The motor is sup...
I have a 1999 evinrude 5hp 4 stroke and I noticed that the 2 parts of the power head do not line up with each other. During the summer I was running the boat at WOT and all of a sudden it lost power, started to smoke and oil was dripping out where the upper exhaust port is (underneath the lower cowl...
Last Sunday I pulled my boat out. $25 later it was on the trailer. This new ramp that was built this year at a mini gold course/ restaurant is very fancy compared to most. It has these lockable posts that prevent anyone from just backing their truck down and launching/retrieving their boat without p...
After reading all of these posts and the 115 + pages of craigslist lines on iboats forum, I think i will purchase my next boat new so I do not have to deal with these idiots.
I have a house on lake hopatcong, and it is too rough to keep my 11' boat in the water all summer, so I just put it in when I want to use it. I would launch it from my dock.... if it didn't weigh over 400 pounds with the gas motor, trolling motor and battery. I wish I could find a public ramp like m...
