Sealing wood

On the topic of water proofers, does more than one coat work? I think its a myth. If you read the instruction it states that 1 light coat is recommended (Thompsons water sealer) After the first coat the wood is "sealed" (if you believe it) The additional coats just sit on top of the first coat and ...

couple questions (seats, paint, trolling motor)

First question, how high do the seats need to be? I was considering a 7 inch fixed riser you didn't mention how wide your boat is, but you should be fine with the 7" base. next question, how much paint will it take to do the inside and out I would think 1 gallon would about take care of it, depends...

Carpet Removal / Install?

I just used a wire brush attachment on a drill to remove the carpet. Wear a mask

If you don't glue the carpet to the plywood it will start to roll when it stretches.

hows this charger look?

Basspro has their XPS smart chargers on sale. they are manufactured by pro mariner for Bass Pro. I purchased the 4/4 2 Bank for $80, 2 year warranty. I know 4 amps is not a lot but I plug my boat up as soon as I return from the lake, takes about 4-8 hours to bring them back to full charge, then it s...

New boat to mod

Here is my new boat, it is a 2000 Lowe 17' with a 2000 Johnson 40 HP. It is ready to fish as is but I plan to make a few modifications. This boat hopefully will be a awesome catfishing rig. I like that there are no bench seats in the center to deal with, just floor. the boat tops out at 38MPH with g...

Lowe 1448 front deck complete

I sold the boat today. To the one's that showed interest, thanks.

I'm still a Lowe man, picked up a 2000 model 17' side console with a 40hp Johnson. Will be adding a few mods to it as it will be a cat fishing boat.

Rivited vs. welded

Sorry, I wasn't trying to contradict you with my above statement. It apparently came out that way though.
Bassboy, I was not offended by your comment. No Biggie man. I like a good debate. You contribute here on a daily basis and give good sound advice.

Middle Seat removal and support....

CJ, make sure you properly support the sides! I thought about removing my center bench seat, called the manufacturer of my boat and was told it was unsafe and the bench was in it for a reason (Would they have told me different?) Anywho make sure you do it right, I've seen it done. Good luck.

Nice boat. I really like the split bench setup in the hull. The type of fishing you plan to do will determine the mods you need. Use good material and take your time as I know this is a boat you will never want to part with.

Rivited vs. welded

Basically, one is not better than the other, but both have their advantages. If one was supreme to the other, don'tcha think we would only be seeing those? I agree. My statement was to question the claim of a welded jon to be "tougher" when in reality the opposite is likely true, is welded better f...

1236 that im trying to deck

That boat will be a bit tipsy, when 2 are in the boat be particularity careful. on small lakes and ponds you'll be fine, on anything of size with a lot of boat traffic (wake) I would think it would roll easily.
