Rebirth of the Tin

Started the Plumbing last night. After 3 trips to Home Depot and Lowes, I thought I had what I needed to get to the point of fastening the forward deck into position. I was able to run some 3/4" pvc, but found I was short certain things. I plan to PU what I need on my way home tonight and get back a...

Rebirth of the Tin

I have finally started back on the Rebirth. I am starting to push hard as I have a camping trip scheduled for the 14th of March. Here's the poop.... CrappieDentist was unable to blast the trailer for me at his work till sometime in the Summer. I picked the trailer back up and he let me borrow his po...

Today we built a trailer. Did something! 1-19-09

I recognized it as a Pinto right away. The tell tale sign of that rear end was all I needed. Any plans to relocate the tank?

The tailer is looking very professional! You've done a very good job.

Dont make cents, either...

https://www.go-fast.com/boat_speed_predictions.htm

This might help. Your speed will depend on how much you, gear, motor, fuel. boat weigh.
The Square Root of (Total Shaft Horsepower / Weight ) x Constant = Speed

My guess is that the 6.5hp will push you close to about 4-5 mph max.

deck support. HELP

Was it you that said they weighed 385lbs? If so, you might consider just decking the ribs on the floor of the boat, and putting your high deck only up front. This will help alot in stability when moving to and fro. When your center of gravity is raised, it helps to create a possible situation where ...

This place is in Wichita. You can get used or new. https://www.yardstore.com/ Here's a site someone else turned me onto but I have yet to shop it. https://www.hansonrivet.com/w28.htm You can find a decent rivet gun, clecos, bucking bars, and other items at a fair price. The other site deals with fas...

wood!!

Wood = weight and future rot. About the only thing you can do is treat the wood to delay the rot. Marine plywood is best due to the fact that it is glued and pressed with waterproof glue, and usually has a quality wood used in the manufacturing of it. That said, Marine plywood is also very expensive...

I'm against pouring foam in the floor area unless you can keep it off the bottom enough to allow water to flow towards the back. If you don't, the foam will become saturated eventually and be near worthless, not to mention the added weight of holding the water. Not all foam completely rejects the wa...

14' Feather Craft V-hull

I love the Feather Craft Boats. My last aluminum was a 14' Feather Craft. I had brought her back from the depths of dead by repairing an 18" gash along the starboard floor/side. It was so bad, I had to create doublers for the inside and the outside of the gash. When it was said and done, it held and...

I bought a Marine LED trailer light set at Atwoods a couple of years ago for a mere $36. I don't know if they still carry them.

How can you tell if your transom is bad??

By the way, where in OK are you? I'm in Oologah, 25 minutes N of Tulsa. If you're close enough, I'd be more than happy to help. I could teach you some riveting while you're around.

How can you tell if your transom is bad??

Poke around on the wood. If it's soft, or has soft spots it is most likely in need of replacement. You have a really good support brace built in and that helps alot. If your wood is not rotting/rotten, you should weather proof it as much as possible. Some boats are easy to replace the wood in the tr...

Best to use an older wood blade and turn it around backwards. It will cut the aluminum. I would suggest using one that does NOT have carbide tips. I've seen a tip fly off a brand new blade before just cutting wood. Went through to dudes eye and put it out. A fine tooth, non carbide tip blade, (cheap...
