well started on mine couple of weeks ago and the weather has me going crazy. It will be warm then next day dusting of snow.

So I removed the wood out of the transom and made a template to make a full size peice to go back in.(old wood was only 1/2 way down) Got that all glued up and waiting on it to dry.

Here are pictures of my boat to modify.

I will also be adding supports on the transom area since it had none.
Now waiting on weather to break so I can sand the outside and paint her( garage full of wood working tools) [-o<

Sounds about like our weather here in KS right now, hope you can get back at it soon also!

Well looks like I'll be back at the boat tomorrow it is suppose to get up in the 60's by the weekend. Hope to get transom installed and then take boat up to friends shop to be soda blasted for free. Then back here for a little rattle can primer. [-o<
Finally the warmth has come back to New Kent,VA.

I'm a newbie to boating and this forum.. I also just picked up a lone star skipper. your pics helped me because somebody previously cut the transom supports out and tried to replace the transom. you are missing top corner braces. if you are still going to modify the transom to strengthen it I would be interested in purchasing your lower braces for my boat. Milt

Sorry I discovered that I had the wrong project. I was looking at a lot of sites for info and came across one that had the original transom supports and wanted to strengthen and modify them. when I got accepted here I thought it was you Sorry.. milt

Milt...I have the top braces and will be putting them on today with all the stainless steel bolts to hold them on. I am getting transom supports made from a fab shop so that I can have a peace of mind when i do mount a 40hp back onto her. I will be getting a side console fabbed as well. Soon the pain in the arse starts...sanding sanding sanding...then paint. ](*,)

I know what your saying. I have been picking up parts and bits and pieces to get this project moving. I have to look for a supplier of stainless bolts. I want carriage head that don't have the square shank but splines. Thanks Milt

no I haven't tried west marine. Thanks for the help. I live in UPSTATE New York about 10 miles south of Oswego. Milt
