Just traded for a 1998 War Eagle and found this site while doing research for my updates. I’ve seen some really cool updates and now I’m rethinking what I want to do. Here’s what I’ve done so far and my questions.
1. Started with the motor and had to find the leak in the lower unit. Cleaned carb and cleaned fuel system. I got it running for now and moved to the boat.
2. Removed all the trash and rotten floor in the front. The boat has a small front deck wit seat, open area next to it, full dry storage bench, small opening and then the rear seat. The rear floor is aluminum flat and appears to be 1/8” thick. There’s was a 2x6 underneath it next to the rear seat. The font floor had 2x2 braces and a wood piece of plywood that was rotten. Ive removed both decks and was planning on reusing the aluminum for the rear floor.
Questions
1. My ribs in the floor appear to be 1 1/2” high. I can’t find any insulation board that high. Where does everyone get it? I was going to get a piece of aluminum for the front floor section and place it on the insulation board.
2. The trolling motor bracket must have had nuts welded under the frame and they are loose now. I had to cut the bolts off. How do I secure the bracket back on?
3. Was thinking of spraying the floor, decks and walls with bed liner. Thoughts?
4. I was going to attempt to paint it myself. Any good tips for getting it off the trailer to paint?
