Almost finished fly fishing 1648 Jet

Post by jtf »

After months of my welder/machinist being down with carpel tunnel operations...DANG!, got the 1648 back with only one finish item besides paint, that's the portable front deck knee brace that allows adjustment for length and hopefully holds you snug on the deck while casting. Only need to paint compartments now.

Put in hatches and storage ( all lockable), motor spray plate (3 & 5), drop-in marine plywood floor treated and getting stair tread footing tape. Evacuated the rear seat foam, enough room for 2-3 piece rods; double no-snag eye cleats all around.

Well, knew it would happen, want to sell this one and move up to a 1860 prop tunnel. But the interior retro-fit was a test of space and fishability. Ten hours on the jet and want something I stupid?

Tried to get it as friendly as my Hyde drift boat. The flush knee brace plate is in front deck (2nd picture). Using an adjustable seat post and manufacturing a curved wrap-around tube for the knee brace.

Rods sit to the right, out of the way resting from back seat to front deck, but maybe they will need some protection? Trolling motor is something new to me, a hold-in-place for the river waters.
