I'm thinking of ways to put a home built power pole on my Jon. I have a motor from a small motorized movie screen. It's a up and dowm motor. The problem is what can I use for a pole or some sort to dig into the ground when power is applied. Any open suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

My next jon will have one of these for sure.

Very cool....Thanks for posting that =D>

Maybe not this spring, but one of those is definitely in my future. :)

I have the same idea rolling around in my melon. I want something the will deploy and retract, even by hand, and will be spring loaded to absorb boat movement up and down with waves or just walking around the deck. I only need it 5 or 6 feet long, any deeper than that I'll just throw the anchor. Instead of a single solid pole I was thinking more along the lines of a hinged leg type setup with a spike.

I have one of these and its great. I plan to add a second so i can pin the bow and transom for current/winds.

Make sure you attach a float to it cause they sink.

Thats a good idea too. Up to what mph wind will that hold your boat? The lake I fish the most is alot better when its windy and sometimes I'm out there in 40 mph gusts. Last time that happened I just threw the anchor and I still had trouble staying still...

I look at these as something you use for sight fishing.....Otherwise you wouldn't need to be held in a very specific spot....In which case you would use a regular anchor otherwise.

When sight fishing the high winds are going to make it impossible, so you really wouldn't be using one of these anyhow.

At least that's how I would apply them.

Minn Kota has now come out with a product similar to the Power Pole:

I don't know guys. It sure looks like an old yard sale Minn Kota trolling motor for ten bucks just to get the bracket. Fassion a pole to fit and you got the same basic set-up. Your pole could be a conoe paddle with the blade removed, slide your extention spike all the way up the hollow paddle handle, cut to length and sharpen. Now you got a spike anchor and a leatheal something.

I definitely like the idea of a manual Powerpole (oxymoron, I know  ). I'm thinking about rigging one up with some PVC and an old broomstick like pole I have sitting around, since I'm cheap.

My "Cajun anchor" is made out of 1" PVC. Works great.
I'll take a couple of pics when it stops raining.

Did you fill the PVC up with something? The Cajun Anchors are just a straight piece of metal, right?

You can buy or make metal ones.

We use PVC. This one is 1". Cheap, light, useful as a push pole. Works great on mud or sand bottom.
I'm going to cut mine open and fill it with foam. That way it will float and also won't fill up with mud.

Gotcha, I like that idea.

I was thinking you were talking about this https://www.cajunanchor.com/

Those work great for anchoring a boat, not so much for pushing off a flat.
Plus I have about $2.37 invested in mine!
