I'm reworking an old boat. I removed the livewell. It had an overflow drain hose that exited through the side of the boat, just above the waterline. There was a PVC screw-together drain hole fitting in the side of the boat. Once the fitting was removed, I'm left with about a 1.5" hole in the side of my boat.

Any ideas on how to patch that hole? Are there screw together PVC plugs? Do I just rivet an aluminum patch over it?

Some of the thru fittings are threaded internally. You can buy a plug that screws in.
A patch can be riveted over the hole. Seal the patch with 3M 5200 or 4200.
