I recently purchased this 13’ (possibly homemade) semi V Hull with a 93’ Yamaha 15hp. I’m familiar with Jboats but this is my first time dealing with a fiberglass boat. I’m looking for suggestions on what I can put around the outer railing gunwale area for better esthetics and to not have raw fiberglass edge. You can see in the pictures that the side is rolled down at the top. Anyone have suggestions, rubber molding? Others?

I will add better pictures of the sides and how the fiberglass rolls over.

Also any other tips, or experiences with small fiberglass boats is appreciated.

Side note, I removed the front white composite boards, I am in the process of replacing the transom, plan on turning the front into a casting platform, and repainting.

Main use will be the creeks and springs in central Florida.

Thanks

That's a good general use boat for down here.

You can get some flexible PVC and slot it, slide that on.

You can also get some for the tubing they use for residential water lines, slot that and install.

I can't think of anything else cheap & easy. Some folks use pool noodles but that might be cheezy.

I to have just picked up fiberglass project too
. It’s a 1977 14 ft MFG Challenger that I’m looking at at the gunnel ad well since their shot along with gutting and rebuilding into a skiff.

Worked on the frame for the platform today, used 1x1 aluminum rods. The yellow X will be the location of the hatch. I plan on soldering all the joints in the days to come for added strength.
