Its listed as a Johnson Sea King but I was under the impression that Johnson didn't make Sea King, only Sea Horse. I recently won the auction and I know it was silly to buy w/o knowing which motor it was but $250 shipped for a 6hp seemed like a pretty good deal to me. Just wanted to know what kind this really was....

I am pretty sure that is a Johnson SeaHorse. The link below is to SeaKing which I had never seen before.

Are the Sea Horses good motors? I paid $266 (including shipping) for this 6hp...description says it was hardly used as it was a backup on a sailboat

You got a great deal.
Looks nice and clean, hope it's runs great for you.
My uncle has one,it's not really big enough for his 14' boat but he just uses it to troll.

That is a late '60s Johnson 6. I have one, that I am about to sell, solely because I have more motors than I could even try to use. Not a bad little motor. 266 shipped isn't a bad price for that at all, and it (all smaller twin cyl OMC motors really) are very reliable, and will last forever. If I had to guess on yours, I would say circa 1968.
