Although lithium is a metal, do not treat a fire involving a small number of lithium batteries as a Class D fire.

I personally think the newer lithium batteries are much safer, but there is difference in how to fight a fire, and knowledge helps.

Ran across this FAA document when I was researching if my boat fire extinguisher would work on Lithium battery fires.

In Europe they have developed a way to fight fires in electric automobiles equipped with lithium batteries that basically consists of submerging the entire vehicle in water. :lol:
