I enjoy doing some wood working in the winter. When we downsized homes a few years ago storage became an issue. I built a storage bed for our guest room that gave my wife additional storage. I built it out of poplar and bead board. The most challenging part was building it so it could be easily disassembled and reassembled. The side panels are hinged at the top for access. We topped it with a pillow top queen mattress and it's worked out pretty well.

Very nice =D> I'm building a bed for my daughter, think I'll incorporate some of your ideas.

Thanks! Our adult children sleep in it when ever they visit. One thing to consider when you are designing it is what you are going to store things in. We store stuff in plastic storage bins so we measured the ones we had so I knew they would fit. If we were storing clothes that were going to be used daily I probably would have built it with drawers.

I'm trying to get my son to take his old bed to his own house! His old bedroom just became my parts room! I'm not that mean, he only moved two cities away.

Nice work, I wish I had those talents.

Material look very thick 8)

The rails and stiles are 2 pieces of 3/4" thick poplar biscuit jointed and glued together. Panels are from 48" x 96" sheet of bead board paneling. All the material was from Lowes.
