In another thread I questioned whether the 1.5" RAM mount would be sufficient for my HB Helix 7.

I've since fabricated a bracket to attach it to my rub rail & installed the head unit on the 1.5" RAM mount.
The bracket will allow me to slide it up & down the rub rail as required.

It'll be a couple months before I can try it on the water, but it seems plenty
secure, I think it's gonna work out really well for me.

A few pics of the installation:

I call it the "Mitee Mount"

Ooooh the new wireless model! Jk. Mount looks great.

Just ordered a ram mount myself.

Looks Good!

I agree with you that the standard diameter mount is stout enough!

Mitee Mount looks good. It would work great as a movable rod holder bracket too. Great for narrow gunnel boats when you don't want to drill holes and/or want to be able to adjust locations. Nicely done.

Thanks, yeah, adjust-ability & hole less install were the intent.
The boat is +40 years old & has had several owners, it already has it's share of holes.
I'm gonna run off a couple more mounts, when a machine opens up, in case I see another use in the future.
