Howdy,

New to the jon boat game. I have a 1436 Grumman jon boat. Just bought a 55# Newport Vessels trolling motor that will be stern mounted.
How deep should the prop be for maximum efficiency? Any advice is appreciated.
THANKS!!

According to Minn Kota, the center of the prop should be a minimum of 12" under the water line. 20" would be better. I know you have a different brand, but it seems the guideline, if valid, would apply regardless.

For fishing in shallow water with obstructions I like mine to be as high as possible without cavitating in waves from passing boats. That would probably be around the 12" mentioned above.

For strictly propulsion duties im not sure it really matters much.
