I am not familiar with the X17, but I did have a 18' Xpress H56 with a 225 ProMax outboard jet. The pad was too deep and narrow to allow the craft to run super skinny unless I was near wide open throttle.

Think of the jet foot as a large vacuum cleaner, sooner or later it will clog. Second, jets do not offer the slow speed control of a prop.

The SeaArk hull is built stronger, the Sport Jet is lighter, more fuel efficient, and more powerful than the Yamaha you mentioned.

I have not had good luck with bondo. However, epoxy works pretty good.

The weight difference between .100 and .125 of a small 1448 jon is minimal and jet drives do not lug or care how heavy the craft is.
