Between the rain and being busy I finally got the trolling motor mount installed. Thanks Matt from Tricked Tins for the mount. Now I just need to mount the Minn Kota quick disconnect bracket and put the trolling motor on. I’m ready to hit the water this weekend.
It’ll probably be set up something similar to Gillgetters boat. My wife and stepdaughter will be with me and we’ll be chasing panfish. And I really like to chase crappies.
I’ve been reading post on this site for a long time dreaming of building my own tin boat and today the dream has come true. After driving 7hrs to get a new Lowe 1648M with a 15hp Mercury fourstroke we’re finally home and I’m ready to get started.
I just had some of these Lowe models quoted and these were the prices that I recieved from a marina online....
L1648M - $2095 (Cabelas has this same boat for $1955)
L1652MT - $2995
L1852MT - due to it's size, comes packaged with a trailer for $4695.

I like that batteries can be stored in the seat and will save floor space. It'll work out nice because my fishing buddy, my 4yr old son, will have obe less this to mess with. :)
I've been looking to buy a 1648 but I've been undecided between Alumacraft and Lowe. I was liking the Lowe because of the livewell but it don't look to functional without a lot of work. Plus it makes it hard to cover the bench. But I like how you stored the batteries in the bench compartment...
Is there any advantage of owning one over the other? Pros/Cons? I'm in the market of buying a boat and undecided on which to get. I'm looking at a 1648.
How many tow your boat with a car? And if so what size of boat do you have? I'm wanting to buy a jon boat but we own to 4cyl cars and I can't afford to buy both a boat and truck.
