Kill Switch ? I don't need no stinkin kill switch

Sorry, I didn't mean to place my post in the quote: I heard about this wreck. Terrible. IMO no one should be much over the speed it takes to stay on plane at night. Very reckless. I hate that you can't tell some people anything (not necessarily this guy), but most think they know lakes well...

    Is my outboard too low?

A hydrofoil isn't necessary to get it to plane, you have issues else where that can probably be fixed. My 14' V-hull with a 9.9 planes just fine and does 15-18 MPH GPS. 21 is the fastest I've ever had it. What pitch prop is on the boat and what are the dimensions of the boat? It should...

    Gauge pod setup

I posted a few years ago about this but never got any feed back. I also searched and found nothing about gauges. I'm looking to get ideas of how to set up my electrical panel, and also want to put a tach in as well as voltmeter. I was going to put the switch panel on the front of the board on...

people with 1448 grizzly, transom saver or motor down?

X2 on the transom saver. Even when towing with the motor down, if you hit a bump, all the weight from the motor gets transferred to the transom. When using a transom saver, most of that weight gets transferred to the trailer, not your transom. I use one on all my boats

    Evinrude fuel mixture

50:1 is correct. It is my understanding that for a few years OMC suggested a 100:1 ratio, hence the sticker. A few years after OMC issued a recall say all engines should be run at 50:1. If the engines went to a dealer for service after this recall, they removed the sticker.

My jon boat setup tell me what is wrong

That engine does not use a shear pin. It has a hub system but on these props the hub is hammered into notches making it nearly impossible to spin a hub. I'm almost willing to say with 100% certainty that you are cavitating. If that is the stock prop and it was not have the plastic converging...

    Sliding seat mount

I recently put seats in my 14' v with the pedestal mounts, however as much as I constantly have to reconfigure where I sit based on how many are in the boat, it's kind of restrictive as far as moving more to the middle or side. I thought I saw a cool little sliding seat mount on the forums here...

    Which depth finder

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the Garmins and really like the echo 300 series. From y'all's experience is is it worth it to get the color screen? Everything on the color screen looks so much easier to read with more definition.

    Which depth finder

I'm looking for a smaller DF for my 14'. I want a smaller one, but I'm worried about getting one that's too "cheap". I really love Humminbird but I don't know how accurate the smaller ones like the piranhamax one rate in shallow water. I don't need HD or SI, just something to read depth and what...

    Finally! My 14' V Restore

Well I've made progress and she's back in the water!! I used two 1/2" pieces of plywood, glued together with waterproof glue. I used a lot of spar urethane on it and bolted it back in. Everything was sealed up with 5200. I got a mini jacker jack plate which put the motor right where it needs to...

    Bimini for narrow beam boat

My boat is a 14 ft v hull with a beam of about 48" across the top. I want to put a Bimini on the boat but I don't know if they make them for boats that narrow. I've seen them in 1448's before but that's a little wider up top than mine is. Where would be the best place to look for one? Thanks

9.5 Sportswin Start with starter fluid - Is it a deal?

Run fast from that deal!! Anyone who runs a 2 stoke off of starter fluid doesn't know anything about 2 strokes. The only way a 2 stroke is lubed is through the oil in the fuel. Running it off starter fluid is like draining the oil out if a 4 stroke and starting it.
