After masking the line I wanted to follow at the waterline of the boat I roughed up the underside (down to mostly bare aluminum) with an electric sander, wiped it down with thinner and then a tack cloth. After that I used one of those tiny 3" or 4" trim rollers to apply 2 coats of RustScat...
I got to put my 1973 14' Starcraft Mariner rowboat in the water for the first time last thursday. I was real happy with how it went throught the water and the comfort and stability of it over my old 12'er but it has a couple of minor leaks along the seams where the gunwale (I think that is the...
FishingBuds, Thanks for the input! I'll be looking for the lightest color possible then!
Does anyone know why this thread has been moved??? I am new here and I placed it in the boat mods section as I am "doing modifications".
I thought about the floor panels but I don't think I want to ad the extra weight that comes with it. What I am thinking about though is putting some kind of rubber mat on the floor to deaden some noise.
Looks like I do in fact have a '73, thanks!
Tom, You are a wealth of info! I presently have a Evinrude 9.9 that I hope to upgrade to a 25hp one day. You wouldn't happen to know the load capacities would you?
Well, progress has been slow until lately but I have been working on it literally all weekend (patient wife who likes to fish) long. My trailer originally had my 2004 Meyer 12' Laker and wanted to trade up in size so I sold the Meyer and bought the 14' Starcraft thinking that the trailer would...
Is it at all possible that your boat could be overloaded? I have read on other boards that the results of being too heavy cause alot of handling/safety issues and the porpoising etc. you describe are the same indicators. Maybe the flex is a big factor on top of that?
My paperwork says it is a 1973 but I have seen alot of pics posted of other Starcrafts claiming to be the same year yet they have aluminum seats where mine are wooden. There is no manufactrer plate on it either. I can't tell if the boat was originally white or beige and the Starcraft logo is a...
That pic was taken when I first bought it. I have been literally been working on it all weekend (patient wife who likes to fish) long and haven't taken pics yet but will take some tomorrow and post either here or the boat mods section. My trailer originally had my 2004 Meyer 12' Laker and wanted...
Hello All, I just joined after browsing the modification section. Great site! I recently sold off my 12' Meyer to up-size to a 14'er. I got what I am told is a 1973 Starcraft. It's in pretty decent shape and I have quite a few mods in mind for it but I seriously doubt the age of my tin boat. I...
