That is undoubtedly one of the coolest boats I have ever seen! Excellent job!

Is this is a pretty good deal on a Mariner 25hp outboard?

I'd say that's a great deal. I'm on my second Mariner, and they have been reliable as heck.. I'm using a '96 Mariner 25 right now, and all I've ever done to it is basic maintenence.

Tearing it apart and putting it back together..MY WAY

Almost forgot, I need opinion, am I figuring this correctly? The boat will normally hold only me, I usually fish alone. My outboard goes about 120, I'm 175 soaking wet, and a 6 gallon fuel tank in the stern of the boat. this should be about 330 lbs in the stern. I use 2 batteries, group 31, I...

Tearing it apart and putting it back together..MY WAY

Wow, has it really been 2 years?, Guess so. Had to halt progress on the tin 'cuz of work and family issues, but we are BACK! Been getting my fishin' fix in a nearby river for steelies in the spring, and smallies in the summertime, but I want my boat back. I've done a bunch of work in the past 2...

Dustin's 14ft alumacraft conversion... lots of pictures!

Hey, great conversion I. I have a very similar Alumacraft that I'm building as weel. I have a suggestion for your closed loop carpet. In my last boat, I put that stuf in there, and it caught hooks like crazy, so I used a brass wire brush, and just brushed the loops out. Made the carpet seem...

    gas tank vent

My thoughts on it are real simple..Safety first. If you even think that you have a gasoline fume buildup, install a fan to suck 'em out of there. I narrowly escaped some very serious burns from exploding gasoline fumes a few years ago. You wouldnt believe the fireball that came from only a 1/4...

Convert clamp-on troller to Folding bow-mount?

I built a mount like that for my boats first incarnation. I removed the factory mount from the transom style motor and built one from wood and aluminum angle. What I was trying to do was copy the mounts I had seen on bow troll motors. It worked, but was a pain to use. I'll be using the same...

Tearing it apart and putting it back together..MY WAY

WOOOOHOOOOO PROGRESS ! Got the side supports built this week, got the wood sides waterproofed and installed, and the floor supports are almost done. Only 8 more of them little legs to build :) Also rear flotation pockets filled with foam and capped. I used Miniwax spar urethane for the wood...

    Mount seat base plates

What I did on my last build was to use a piece of plywood on the bottom side of the seat, then I ran long carriage bolts thru the seat mount, the aluminum bench, and the plywood. It held up great for a very long time.

    Overton's Tuff Coat?

The can I had said that as well. I called Overton's to get a recommendation on what to use, and that's when I was told about the 2 part primer and got a price quote. The guy I talked to was pretty helpful and he also assured me he would make sure I got what I needed. I also asked several people...

Tearing it apart and putting it back together..MY WAY

Can't wait to try 'em out myself, cavman. I suffered for years with cheap, crappy boat seats, 'cuz I was too cheap to buy the good ones. Well I'm up from the cellar for a bite to eat...livewell is close to done, just have to go back to Farm and Fleet and get the valves for the recirc. pump.

Tearing it apart and putting it back together..MY WAY

Wellllll..vacation time has finally arrived, and what do ya know? Of course it's RAINING!!!! ARRRRGGGHH! No electric power tools outside today. So today we have gone to Farm and Fleet to get some boat stuff. Today I will prepare the livewell for installation and make a switch panel. Pics...

16 ft starcraft v-hull, new boat

I think you should decide if you're going to remove the center bench before ya do anything else. If you do remove it, build your braces or support structure for the sides first, then you can decide how high the deck should be, and where it should be tied into the side supports.
