    Filling old drill holes?

I used to sell Belzona epoxy products. They had numerous 'metals' and they were filled with ceramics, or steel. The steel ones were very machinable and could be used on worn shafts etc. and then turned on a lathe, so the metal in them was for a purpose rather than looks. Many epoxies use a...

    Filling old drill holes?

Not really. The material comes in a Tootsie roll formation. The stick of it has a central core which is the hardener. Just slice off a piece and then roll it around until the color is even. The difference I see is that this material is thicker, and therefore better for filling holes, it won't...

    Thread type

If you have a micrometer/accurate measuring device, measure the OD of the tube, and then count how many threads there are in one inch. I'm not sure what threads would be on a Johnson, but it's likely made in USA so that would narrow it down. There are lots of thread charts on line.

Need to look inside an engine, down a drain or whatever? Endoscope for $11- not a trick!

It would be ok if you did the endoscopy first.

Does anyone know what these are

I'm pretty sure they are the transom mounts for a small engine, and they allow for a different pitch to the engine, which has a horizontal bar. You can see a similar setup on this old British Seagull engine -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BritishSeagull2.JPG

HOW TO EASILY STRIP PAINT FROM AN ALUMINUM BOAT

Have you exhausted chemical strippers? I'd suggest painting it on in sections, and immediately covering it with a thin plastic sheet. This prevents the solvent (Usually methylene chloride) from evaporating too quickly. This chemical boils at 103deg F, so a great deal of its power is lost at an...

Help me decide the best way to fix pitting

Aluminum is always a problem removing oxide, because it instantly corrodes when exposed to air. When anodizing, the material is placed in a bath where the chemical dissolves the oxide and deposits a layer of zinc. As the process continues in the anodizing bath, the zinc is dissolved under water...
