I will get back with you in a few days. My Fluke meter needs an adapter to be able to work correctly and I am waiting for that. Thanks Keith

    Johnson Lost Spark

Pappy, The output from the power pack was 4.5 volts on one lead and basically 0 on the other. Do you think that indicates a bad PP? Thanks, Keith

    Johnson Lost Spark

I have a 1993 Johnson 6 HP and have lost the spark on the top cylinder. The ignition coils check good on both cylinders. I have a Fluke 87 meter to check the output of the power pack but can't get it to indicate peak voltage correctly however there is an output from one of the PP leads and...

    CNG outboards?

Turbo, One thing that you did not mention is when burning gas it's much cleaner and you can extend the oil changes way out. Also if you keep the engine pretty well loaded up not much carbon forms on the heads or piston tops. Other than that for me I don't see any advantage over burning gasoline...

On the LNG the only thing that keeps it a liquid is super cold not pressure. Regards, Keith

    CNG outboards?

Jacob, You make some interesting points. I have worked around gas compressors that burn the product[gas] and most of these engines run turbochargers in order to produce more power. I don't think that we will be seeing turbos on outboards any time soon do you. Regards, Keith

    Trolling with a 2 stroke?

I have two 2 strokes. One is a 1988 Evinrude 30 hp and the other is a 1993 Johnson 6 hp and can not remember when the plugs last fouled or were changed. Both have lots of hours. For me since they changed the oil over to the type 3 the plug problem mostly disappeared. Back in the 1960s I was...

Spearfishing from a 12ft vhull? help

Back in the 1960s I had a 12 foot Sears Game Fisher with a 5.5 Johnson and dove out of it all the time. What I did then and still do is to put weight belt and spear gun in boat. Then if anyone else is in the boat they move to the other side. I just grab the gunnel and push myself down into the...

Where can I find a wide blade flat screwdriver?

What works well getting those plugs out is an impact screwdriver. The type that you hit with a hammer. I suppose that they still sell them. Mine was purchased back in the 1960s to work on dirt bikes with. Regards, Keith
