hi i am trying to paint my motor. its a 9,9 evinrude
what kind of paint do i use to paint the aluminum?
it has to withstand heat n stick t aluminum but at
same time it needs to match the hood and stick to fiberglass
any ideas>?
Ive heard of using 3m5200 sealant on leaky rivets.the local marina told me they use it all the time and it works great. I can't really pinpoint where the leaks are coming from but I know it s along the keel and some random rivets. He told me to use a caulk gun and just seal all rivets and along...
Haha no problem take any ideas ya want. You can also give ideas if you have any. I get new ideas everyday for these things I wish I had a bunch of them to build differently from one another. Lol.
ok sounds like you know your boat motors!
i am sorry about my questions just tryin to learn.
i am gonna replace waterpump and housing
also may replace thermostat and fuel pump if you think that
should be done also.
total should be around $55-80 for all.
i know a rebuild kit is much cheaper then...
sounds like a lot of work so imgona try a wire wheel on my drill.
i think it should clean it pretty good. i did notce a film betweem the keel an hull.
possibly a plastic like seal for betwen metal?
i will clean bottom and post pics.
anyone know what kind of rivets and gun should i use?
ya i did remove the plug on top of carb. cleaned every port i found repaced all parts that came in the kit.
as far as the "shaft" i was talking about that hole you described as the relief hole.
so does that indicate it is pumping water or would it do that regaurdless?
her is a bunch of pics of my boat. 1st steps...
:seal leaky rivets on keel and floor.
:get 9.9 evinrude running properly (not pumpin water out pee hole) and runs but quits
rebuilt carb.

ok thanks for the input. ya i did not do the horrible paint job on bottom
boat is in great shape. no dents or holes.
so i guess my new plan is to re-rivet the keel. how should i do this?
regular rivets and hand gun ok?
do i drill out old rivets then replace with new.
will the leaks stop or still...
sorry about the caps.
can i take the thermo out and put it bac together to see if it pumps water?
also pee hole discnnected i can blow through it.
it looks like the90 deg elbow may have some gunk in it.
i just got the motor on trade. looks to have low hours. i rebuilt the carb.
it runs but bogs...
MY JON IS LEAKIN PRETTY GOOD. I GET ABOUT 6 IN OF WATER IN THE BACK.
I SEALED IT WITH FLEXIBL SLICONE FAST DRYING.
NEXT TIME OUT LEAKED WORSE THEN BEFORE.
SEALANT IS PEELING OFF LEAVING GAP BETWEEN METALS.
WHAT IS A CHEAP WAY TO SEAL THIS WITHOUT LEAKS
AND NOT CAUSING DRAG.?
HERE IS PICS AT...
