Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

What they are rated for? No idea. All wiring is installed now and motor cranks flawlessly.

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

Noted. Yeah. Flooded cell batteries are best for starting purposes.

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

I wasn't implying anything you were doing was half a$$ed. After I thought about it, if I extended my starter cables and routed them under the floor on the bottom of the hull, that might not be the proper way to go about things. I've come up with a solution that uses common sense and follows...

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

Well, a small outboard is kinda what I have. As far as ABYC standards, I'm not saying it's the holy grail or has to be followed to the letter. But why would anyone want to do anything half a$$ed especially on a floating conductor?

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

Thank you for all your help. After unboxing the motor, I discovered that it already has starter cables preattached. They are small gauge and look like maybe 6ga. Definitely not 4ga. Anyway, after seeing the control wiring harness that came with it and knowing the mess of spaghetti when I...

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

I decided to relocate my starting battery to under the side console of my 1448 to get the weight off the back of the boat. I'm hanging the new 20hp Suzuki tomorrow. How can I route the power and ground cables (4ga) from the outboard to the side console? I originally thought just going under...

This thing is a can of worms

Sounds like a good idea. I bought a brand new 20hp Suzuki for the boat. The 25hp johnson is sitting in the corner of my friends shop. So I'm not super worried about getting it going now. But when I decide to extract that bolt and fix the motor to sell, I think a left hand but will probably...

This thing is a can of worms

I agree. It's just the drilling a hole in stainless steel to put a tap in it that has me concerned. But once I'm in my new house and shop with all my tools at my disposal, it shouldn't be a problem.

This thing is a can of worms

Once I get the boat repaired and back together, and have it turn key condition with the new motor, I plan on tackling getting the old johnson back into shape to sell it. The issue with extracting the bolt is that it's stainless steel and the parent material is aluminum. I'm currently living in...

This thing is a can of worms

Bought a 95 lowe 1448 with a 25hp johnson. Took it out half a dozen times and then started having problems with the motor. Had a guy do some work to it and got it back still not right. Figured I'd do it myself so I did and got it running good enough that I could use the boat. Found out the...

Paint advice. Help me put lipstick on this pig!

That looks really great! If I had more free time and a better place to work, I think I'd go that route. Someone recommended I try GOOP epoxy sealer on the bottom. I think I may just flip the boat and roll some on the bottom for now to get me by. Once the bottom is coated. The trailer becomes...

Paint advice. Help me put lipstick on this pig!

I bought a used 1448 with 25hp johnson a few months ago. The motor ended up being tired, abused and just not what I want as a turn key rig. I bought a 20hp Suzuki that will arrive next week. My wife says the pig needs some lipstick to go with the pretty new motor. The 1995 lowe big jon hull...

Lowe 1448 did i pay too much?

I agree. I think this hull is a great size and works well as long as you keep in perspective what it's designed for. Regardless, I don't think I'd be able to do a boat that is less than 48" bottom. I see people with 30" and 36" thinking it's just a glorified kayak.

Lowe 1448 did i pay too much?

I'd agree with you if I was wanting to try to take this little boat into the same water as my big ocean boat. But I'm literally just using this boat in the shallow creeks in NC. There are spots guys have issues getting their bigger 18 and 20ft Jons into. Your 1460 must be really wide. Mine is...

Lowe 1448 did i pay too much?

This boat rides surprisingly well the way it is as long as I sit in the center of the bench while driving. Even with me, the fuel tank and a big 31 group battery (blame PO, not me) in the back, the boat still rides really well and planes quickly. I think MrGiggles solved my dilemma in regards...
