is that insulation foam board you used as filler between the ribs? if so how are the buoyancy properties of it? I thought of using it as floatation foam in my rig just not sure if its buoyant enough to be used for this purpose?
I do! while fishing i like my seat in the center while motoring (tiller steering) i like the seat slightly off set from center easier to control the motor for my long arms.
i use the stuff pretty much exclusively on all my spinning gear. I have rigs strung with 6lbs up to 20 lbs recently starting using the 20 lbs on my favored jigging rods which are baitcasters and it cast fine I love the added sensitivity and hook setting ability.
I fish the chompers on a 1/4 oz stand up jig head with a 6'6" or 7 foot cating rod in a medium heavy fast action tip. for line I use 12 or 14 lbs berkley XT more recently starting using 20 lbs fireline and im really liking it much more sensitivity.

the Pflueger criterion and templar are hard to beat. check'em out! I used to be all curados then I grew up and responsibilities took over. Now I have to be budget conscious I dont think you will be disappointed with either of these pflueger reels.
they'll hold up they just dont take abuse and neglect well... ive fished with my CS300 in 3 different states for multiple species of fish even some salt water fishing in the gulf of mexico its landed hundreds of fish some upwards of 25-30 lbs only had one piece break on it and it was my fault...
I have a corsair CS300 nice reel very smooth and casts far I have mine loaded with 20 and use it for striped bass and northern pike. I just dont think Id give 25 bucks a reel unless they are in like new condition! they were only 40 to 45 bucks new.
