I keep mine put away and then just tie it off to a cleat if I am using it, This way I can put it where I want it and not be forced to have it at the same spot. Depending on wind and current I like to choose where I drop the anchor.

Ya I had to do it that way to have enough carpet I was cutting it close. The camera makes it look more noticeable than it is. I only had a few scraps left.

I was going 1/4" less on each side there was carpet, you only need to account for the backing since the plush will just smash up against the side making for a nice tight finish. I got mine from Home Depot online nice carpet and good price.

I was actually thinking about this and the fact that ropes from anchors and dock lines could rub my new paint off and found these was thinking about just putting them down both sides of the boat on the rails...
I know you said its grounded but I would check to make sure it has good contact, most trailer light problems are the ground or incorrect wiring at the lights.
