We have a very rough and remote "launch" onto a small slough. I rounded the sharp steep corner only to find a tent set up in the middle of the ramp. Had to unhook the trailer and to launch the boat and get the truck turned around.

I just put Gator Glide on the bottom of my boat. I don't know that it seals but it sure made it slick.

Thanks guys. I had heard the stuff was darn near bullet proof but had never seen it on a transom.

HDPE is the proper product name I guess. My transom is aprox 60"x24". I'm not near my boat right now so I'm not 100% sure of the size. I only get two weeks R&R and don't want to spend the whole time working on the boat.

I'm looking to replace the boards on my transom and was wondering if anyone has used Star Board or Blue Core type material. I know it's darn spendy but it would save me several days of putting spar on plywood. Just wondering how the stuff holds up on a transom. Thanks.

This is my first real boat. It's an early 70's Smoker Craft 2060 River Runner. I bought it last winter and put a Mudd Buddy 45 mag surface drive on it. It needs some work but floats and drives but looks pretty rough. Hope to get the transom replaced and some gator glide on it this year.

Thanks fellas. I don't know much about paint but do know some paints don't like to go over other paint. I want to get my transom repaired before bear season. I hope to paint the whole boat later this summer.

I chose a mud motor over a jet for a couple reason. I can putt through the sandy or rocky shallows and not have to worry about sucking up a bunch of sand. The biggest reason is fuel mileage though. They sip gas compared to two strokes. Here in Alaska fuel mileage is a big concern on boats, four...
