For my recent wiring, used a crimper tool for these size lugs. In the past, filled the lug pocket with solder and melted with propane...

I used the old bench vice and nail trick to crimp the lugs, followed by some solder.

Heat the lug,push the solder 3/4 full, the crimp in a vice or smack with a hammer then heat shrink..walla great connection!

I believe "goop" is also gas resistant, I can say that it gas always held on my projects..
