    seat question

I have to go with the Caster. Mine is off-set and I get better tiller control and line of sight with a rider up front. But I did place a second mount mid-line to use while fishing. I don't like that feeling of tiping to one side for long periods. I try to spend more time fishing then running.

how do i mount a fish finder....

Ok Ev. A couple of questions. Are you putting your boat on a trailer? Or are you pulling it out of the back of a pick-up? The reason I ask is if pulling in and out of a pick-up, you have more chance of knocking a perminant mount around and breaking something. A trolling motor with a fish-finder...

Need Some Short Pedestals for my boat and have a TM question

Go ahead and get the Swivel Ease 12" and cut in half, take a dowel just a little smaller in diameter and stand it up on the floor/sidewalk. Slide the female half over and go to pounding. The white nylon insert will come out. I've done it eleven times without mishap. Smooth/round-over your edges...

    What a find!

Nice find. Looks like it may be a long shaft. Measure from bottom of the motor to the cavitation plate (big plate just above the prop) 15 inches is a short shaft, 20 inches is a long shaft. Make sure you set up your transom so the cavitation plate is even with the keel (bottom of the boat)...

    Flat bottom vs "V"?

Not much of a ride improvement between a mod-v and a flat bottom. The mod-v will grip the water better giving a safer ride by turning into waves and avoiding floating junk/boats on bigger water. I'm a mod-v boater but I'm in Kentucky and it fits me fine. Up North you will see more deep V's for a...

Change of direction with my Lowe

I think I would have a patch welded over the entire area. If you know how to weld aluminum PMan, then go for it. Otherwise, go pro. You'll have enough on your mind with your family in the boat.

    New TinBoater

Looks like you may have a kinda short narrow boat. Instead of those removable atwood seats, how about a couple of pedestal type seats with spots set up to place them in each bench. I don't think I would put a pedestal bar in but just the seat straight into the base. It should raise you up enough...

    Stick Steering Idea

Could you put the shifter between your legs kinda tucked under the seat a little. That way the left or right hand could operate and the deck would remain hot-foot free.

    flat floor? for 1648 mv

Look through the posts and see how others have leveled their ribs with aluminum angle prior to laying their floor. If your floor is a little springy between the ribs, you can glue-screw some strips cut and placed long ways (bow to stern) between the ribs to stiffen up the 1/2 inch ply. Three to...

Introduction - 1452 Alumacraft Project (New Pics!! 07-21-11)

Getting the floor level in the bottom of the boat is the best thing to do ( I think). If the boat floats at a little angle, I don't think it will make much differance that you can notice when you're fishing. If it's flat and smooth, free of tripping-over stuff, you will be happy with the...

    Power Pole

I don't know guys. It sure looks like an old yard sale Minn Kota trolling motor for ten bucks just to get the bracket. Fassion a pole to fit and you got the same basic set-up. Your pole could be a conoe paddle with the blade removed, slide your extention spike all the way up the hollow paddle...

Sort of a new member. Got myself a new boat!

With a two bench set-up and no flotation in the bow, I would say it's a safety requirement. You could trim around your storage area with some small aluminum angle and put a nice lid on giving a you a space or extend the bow area for storage. Solid boat and any way you approach it, it's gonna...
