I had no idea you had posted this on the site, LOL, I think I have B-Rad talked into re-vamping Flat Bottom Girl, taking out the carpeted plywood and replacing with the cedar decking!!!! Can't wait to take this out for some muskie hunting!!!

blueultra2, We just screwed the decking down to the wood framing right through the deck and carpet with coated deck screws. U can see them up close, but they mainly disappear in the nap of the carpet.

Here's another quick easy do-it-yourself rod holder that costs around 8 bucks, and only has four peices and one solvent weld! The rod holder remains adjustable for direction where is screws into the bushing, and can be screwed in and out of the base easily and everything is light weight plastic...

dc3232, Not completelty sure on transom board, but my guess is that it will last awhile before you notice anything. Our project had a treated board and it was from 1976, had a treated transom board put in at some point by someone, the only corrosion was minor pocketing and slight rust. I bet...

OK all, we have our framing sealed and painted, leaky rivets have been 5200'd or jb welded, and we have got most of the paint job done. We still have some work to do on the black stripe, it didn't come out like we wanted it to, so we will do some work on it and then have to attach our hatches...

Brine, I think you are exactly right, I got a buddy coming tonight to weld the boat. Is re-bucking just holding a board on one end and smacking the head with a hammer on the other?

Okay, so, besides using steelflex on the outside cause we don't want it to chip.....what would be next best/cheap thing that will last for awhile on the bottom? Troutman I know you said it will chip, but how easily? and has anyone else been rough on their steelflexed bottom and had it stand...

Guys, I have seen scattered posts about wether or not you can use SteelFlex over top of 3M 5200, but no real info from replies. We have a small crack we need to fix and want to seal up some seeping rivets. Will the Steelflex adhere to the 5200? Also, I have seen scattered posts on concerns...
