Very nice boat! After viewing yours I ran out to check on mine. It was still there. I too have a 73 Smokercraft. It's a 16' Tri-fisherman I think. Almost like yours, except not as nice. I bought mine with only two benches remaining and a transom that had to come out. Thats how its sitting right...

Wow! Two months just flew by and I still have not touched that boat. To answer my own question, I think the boat is a Smoker-Craft 16' Tri-Fisherman. Now lets see if I can get it the water next spring. [-o<

That really is a cool boat. How does it handle the waves? I'm not talking about being out on the Atlantic during a storm, but putting around. Reason why I'm asking is I was wanting to build a dory sometime, but the flat bottom and v-bow had me wondering.

Same boring question: what is the best foam for irregular spaces? I have read posts on the subject, not all of them, and did not find out if the spray expansion foam is any good. Like a lot of boats it was used for support as well as flotation. It helped support the sheet of aluminum flooring...

Thanks for the link Outdoorsman. I crunched the numbers and came up with 40 hp. That sent me looking at 40 hp tillers. Wow. New ones are crazy$ and older ones tend to be LS or remote or both. I'm going to have a hard time finding one in my price range.

The boat is in a holding pattern. I have the factory floor up and will proceed with taking out the flotation. It's a combo of styro and icyinene(I think thats how its spelled). The floor was basically a sheet of aluminum spanning across the foam with it acting as support. Surprisingly sturdy...

I did some more digging around. Turns out is called the Hydro-lift hull. Well, thats what Smoker Craft calls it. It's reported to get the boat up an plane faster, be more stable in turns and reduce spray. I wonder how long they have been using it?
