Nice LED (solar or USB RE-charge) spotlight

For Boating Safety:

For boating or maybe around the house as an emergency backup, as I also carry a 12V plug-in powerful spotlight on the boat. But I keep this up on my covered walk-around helm, with the solar array pointed to the sun and it remained fully charged all season long!

It is an LED Solar or USB charged spotlight. It has a white main spot beam of high, low and flashing, then that ‘square’ LED panel as shown is like a utility light of high, low and flashing ‘red’ color.

The charge level is shown as 1 of 3 levels. And I could spot navigation buoys up to 800 to 1000’ away with it (as measured by GPS), really amazing at just how well it worked! I used it intermittently for at least an hour the other night on a really DARK night and it still held the highest charge level shown when done.

The only drawback is that once you use the main ‘high’ beam, you need to cycle the trigger 6 other times quickly to shut it off, or put the beam against your body or towel to retain your ‘night vision’.

But … it was only $15 shipped on eBay! Search eBay for “Bright Solar/USB Rechargeable LED Spotlight Flashlight Searchlight”, typically they run$15 to $18 shipped.

I forgot to add, there's also a USB port that can be used to recharge your cell phone.

My wife always complains about the lights we have, as they always need to be resharged or need new batteries, so one of these should work well. I got one from Amazon for $21 because it has a much larger battery capacity than the ones on Ebay, so it will be more useful as a power bank. Again, thanks, your post was very helpful.

Maybe Minnkota should add a little solar charger to their i-Pilot Link remote. I’m always charging that thing.

I made a CORRECTION to the photo, as the solar array in on the REAR of the light, so if you leave it on your helm with the lens down ... it'll recharge by the sun.

I was wondering about that. That is a COB LED, I believe. The one I have will run the COB for 20 hours and the high-intensity light for 10 hours. and has a strong power bank for charging tablets and phones. It's coming today. Looking forward to seeing if it does what they claim.

I received the light today. I am very impressed. It's a light cannon. You could guide planes in with it. The COB light on the side lights our entire downstairs. I haven't tested how long the light will last on one charge, but I will. Between 10 and 20 hours is claimed. Also, I'll test how well it does as a power bank. (10,000 mAh claimed)

But based on 15 mins of testing, I am very impressed.

@thill - How many "trigger pulls" from FULL bight ON to OFF? It looks like at least 4 cycles? The ad says:

• Brightest spotlight :1000,000-lumen Powerful T300 LED Beads with three brightness settings: High (1000,000 lumens), Medium (500,000 lumens) Low (200,000 lumens) and SOS mode. At 1000,000 lumens,600 yards illumination range significantly brighter than many higher-priced spotlight flashlights.

How is the Side Light turned on? On the original one I posted up above, one needs to cycle the trigger 6 times quickly to go from full ON to OFF, or put the beam against your body or towel to retain your ‘night vision’. But I like the power of this one you posted and might get one for the truck!

I was just kidding but, it seems like a lot of photons for your skin and muscle tissue to absorb. Maybe not a good idea on a regular basis.

It has two buttons, a regular trigger and one on the side for the area lighting

Front trigger = spotlight - High, Medium, Low, Off
Side button = LED Area light - High, Low, Off

As for night vision, the light comes with a red filter and it actually works to protect your night vision. First one I've seen that actually works.

Again, I'm thoroughly impressed with this unit. Last night, the dogs were barking at something, and I lit up the woods. Makes you feel powerful. A bear would avert his eyes from this thing!
