    14' Starcraft Semi-V Rebuild

Looks good, keep up the good work. In no time you'll be done. I plan on starting my boat mods in the end of april and be finished by May 20th. Will be great to get back on the open water. We still have a couple of weeks left of ice fishing up here lol

    Connecting battery charger

I would take the battery in to a store that will test it for free. Their test should show you if the battery is bad or if it's the charger. If it's the first time using the charger and it's bad, you can probably return it. It should have some type of warranty

    Connecting battery charger

WOW, be cafeful with that puddle around the battery. It's most likely sulfuric acid if it came from inside of the battery, it will eat through everything! I would suggest neutralizing the acid with a lot of baking soda before trying to remove the battery and clean up the spill. The voltage...

    14' Starcraft Semi-V Rebuild

I would go with just one breaker or fuse, using 1 breaker instead of 2 is one less thing to break, making it less of a hassle while out on the water. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you should need a switch for the trolling motor because the trolling motor has a switch built in via the speed...

    14' Starcraft Semi-V Rebuild

Polyurethane foam (closed cell foam) has a buoyancy of approximately 60 lbs per cubic foot. So divide the weight of your boat, motor and everything inside by 60 and that will give you a good approximation of how much foam you will need in order to keep your boat from sinking if you get swamped.

Boat seats and the 5mph rule?

I think the 5 mph. rating also has to do with the force beng applied to the pole. The faster you accelerate, the more force is applied to the pole and this force could possibly bend the pole while at speed. Also, the greater the mass of the person on the seat will also increase the bending...

    Do you drink and fish?

I'm with you BaitCaster. Definitely love a couple cases of beer with some buddies on the dock, toss in a pickerel rig and your set. Catch ratio definitely gets worse and worse with the more beers you drink but it's still a good time catching a tonne of perch and walleye. No beer in the boat...

    Garmin ECHO series

I saw that Garmin came out with a new line up for fishfinders this year. I was in the market for a new one and they seem to be reasonably priced for the features that they offer. Has anyone bought one of these units and tried it out yet? https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=149

    Boat Seat Pedestals

Thanks for the input guys. For the front deck the depth below it shouldn't be an issue, I can just drill a hole in the seat. In the middle of the floor there isn't too much clearance. I would check but the boat is under at least a foot of snow lol. I have seen surface mounts for some pedestals...

    Boat Seat Pedestals

I bought a 14 ft Naden with a 15 HP Yamaha 4 stroke in the fall that the previous owner had removed the second bench seat, half of the back bench and decked the front two benches. There is also a low floor from the back of the boat to the front deck. I also bought 2 seats for cheap on sale in...

Storing outboard in winter - updated

All we have in Manitoba up in Canada is 10% ethanol blended fuel, pretty sure its a requirement.... It works perfectly fine. I love it when I go to the states and the 10% ethanol fuel is cheaper, even though it's the same stuff we have up here

    Winterizing a 4 Stroke

you should be able to. Ask or look for engine storage spray. It can be used with both 2 strokes and 4 strokes. Just take off the cover on the motor and get access to the carbs and then spray it directly into the carb while the motor is running until it stalls out the motor. It will make the...
