What to watch out for: 1990(ish) 15hp Johnson

"idea of rebuilding it in the house" Seems perfectly reasonable to me. :)

Hmmmm, do I need more HP?

Agreed, but might need a long shaft.

Pressure treated wood used for floor deck!!!

Interesting and thanks for sharing. This stuff is rated CDX. According to the spec's it uses a copper based preservative. I would be leery about the possible galvanic reaction. I'm not a chemist or scientist. Just a guy applying an abundance of caution. I would be happy to be shown to be...

    1999 Crestliner Project

That is a very nice rig, congrats! I really like the steering console set-up, especially that flip up cover. I look forward to watching this come together.

What have you been up to lately?

The sciatica is better but I'm still moving around a little gingerly. So, yesterday I did a tune-up on an old Garcia Mitchell 300 I bought a few years back at a garage sale. It is one of the made in France models. It has no particular value from a collector's standpoint. I like it because...

Archery hunting Bad then Good 😮

Sometimes all you can do is shake your head and move on (with all your property of course). Good that you landed on your feet.

Motor wouldn't go over 2400 RPM temporarily?

"Impellers are cheap. Motors are not." My vote for best quote of the month!

    Spot fix the flotation foam

Couple 6x6 areas, here are the things that come to mind: -- I might just ignore it, meaning leave the spaces empty. -- Stick some empty plastic soda bottles in the holes and call it good. Shoot a couple dabs of gap filling foam to keep them from rattling around. -- Cut pieces to fit from...

Just to clarify, it is not something we need to operate the anchor function on our PowerDrives. I was just joking above. It was not included in the box. Think of it as an option.

Huh, seems like that would work. Like an oversized aluminum transom pad. I think I would butter the whole thing with whatever the preferred goop might be.

The steering console turned out awesome! Boat is a little too clean though. Haha.

I think by lower mount support plate you mean a backer plate for the lower mounting bolts. Yes, I would add something for sure. That would be in addition to replacing the bad transom wood. I will add I think @thill makes a very good point in post #9. Like he says, if you are happy with...

@airshot , I also operate spot lock without the puck. I was totally confused about the need for the puck. In addition to the spot lock, it is about the "jog" function. I finally "got it" with a little help (and a lot of patience) from the folks responding in this thread...
