    Bass-Ackwards control box?

A couple of years ago, I bought a pontoon boat to use as a barge when we re-plant oyster shells on our leases. The motor is a 40 HP Mariner magnum. Problem I have is that somehow the control box is completely backwards, in other words, reverse is forward, and forward is reverse. Control box...

    Flushing Motors in Saltwater

As kofkorn mentioned, I have also noticed that the only part of the lower unit that really seems to suffer the effects of saltwater is the driveshaft seal where it goes into the lower unit. I dredge with my outboard, (since the corps of engineers isn't going to clear my channel for me, I do it...

    Tracker Seadoo Jet Jon Build

If memory serves me correctly, don't those sea doo engines use some kind of rotary valve system that requires oil?

    SpottedSeaTrout:

Indeed they do. They have jurisdiction on land, sea, and air, and they can write a state trooper a ticket. Reason being, because they are enforcing federal fisheries laws, these officers not only hold state commissions as law enforcement officers, but they also hold commissions...

    SpottedSeaTrout:

It is legal to gig for sea trout and red drum (spot tail bass) in SC from Mar 1 to November 30. It is unlawful to gig for them in colder months, because the water is so cold, the fish don't really have a chance, as they move so slowly. Flounder may be gigged year round, but you're not going to...

Why does lower have to be filled from bottom?

I just use one of these: No more aggravation with those POS tubes, and the spillage is minimized.

    LED Polarity

Black is negative, and gray is positive. But most 12V lights, whether incandescent or LED, aren't affected by polarity.

If you want to experiment with adjusting the angle of your nozzle, the easiest way is with a pump wedge. https://www.torxracing.com/Pump-Wedge-Watercraft-s/2193.htm My stock nozzle is a +5 degree, which runs good, except at WOT with no passenger in the bow, then it wants to porpoise. But I...

anyone know how to quiet a two stroke.

Here's a few pics of the exhaust baffle system on my boat: In the upper left corner inside the tunnel is where the exhaust exits Along the inside edge of the tunnel is a flange, where the rubber skirting attaches Rubber skirting is notched to fit around the jet nozzle, including notches...

    Bedliner painted boat bottom

It's a MAJOR PITA to remove the stuff if you ever have to. I recently re-did the bottom of my boat, had to use chemical stripper mixed with lacquer thinner to get the stuff off. And even then it still took 5 gallons of the stuff.

Roll bed liner..... How to remove???

As I mentioned in my previous post, if the bed liner is as firmly adhered to the hull as mine was, sandblasting may do more harm than good. I already inquired about having that done, and the man told me if the paint is to the extent where they have to hold in one spot for more than a second or...

    Turbo Jet Jon!!

Mine was more like 75% thought, 10% waiting on ordered parts to arrive, 14% modifying parts that didn't work, and 1% action.

Nice work! The cladding on the hull with the .125", as well as the UHMW, ought to protect you from any kind of rock strikes, for sure. Looking at your intake grate makes me think I need to re-design mine, with more tines, and closer together, to prevent ingesting rocks, or in my case oyster shells.

Roll bed liner..... How to remove???

I tried a heat gun on mine, as well as a torch. No effect. In order to get it hot enough to remove paint, it's probably going to warp the hull. Same is true for sandblasting. Trust me, I've been there, done that. Less than a month ago, in fact. Stripper is the best option.

Roll bed liner..... How to remove???

Don't even waste your time, money, and effort with sandpaper. If this is Rust-O-Leum truck bed liner like my boat had on the bottom, you will only succeed in wearing out the sandpaper. Stripper, stripper, and more stripper. Get a gallon of aircraft coating remover, and a quart of laquer...

Roll bed liner..... How to remove???

Oh, sh*t! That ain't good. Fortunately, as far as advice goes, you are in luck. I just went through the same problem with my jet boat. And my problem was compounded by the fact that I couldn't turn my boat upside down to work on it. Had to construct a makeshift boat lift to get it off the...
