    Bass-Ackwards control box?

Me too. It's kinda dangerous having backwards controls, especially approaching a dock, mooring area, or trailer, where the tendency is to throw it in reverse to slow it down. With backwards controls, that's full speed ahead! I'm thinking I may also get a little more top speed, as...

    Took a pretty hard hit.

While the spacing may be closer together on the OEM grates, the downside is that they are made of cast aluminum, which means they are brittle. I have seen quite a few jet skis with broken tines in the intake grates. I'd hate to think of what could happen if I were to glide across an...

    Took a pretty hard hit.

If you're running where there are rocks, you definitely don't want a top loader grate. This is what you need: I have the spacing set so that the joint of my ring finger cannot pass between any of the tines. Also, mine is set up with a push-pull cable, so it's a weedless grate.....this is...

    Bass-Ackwards control box?

UPDATE: Since I knew there was a very low likelihood of being able to get into the control box, I checked the cables on the motor to see if there was any way they could be reversed. No luck. However, I finally solved the problem a few weeks ago, when I had to change the water pump impeller, as...

What throttle control are you using?

Those controls have been slightly upgraded since that photo, or 'pimped' if you will.... All bronze. 8) Hopefully these show a little more detail. Only other aspect of the control box is to design a cable clamp to securely hold the throttle cable. I used a small thick piece...

CUSTOM JET JON FROM THE GROUND UP

Very nice work! Once you have the tank welded up, the only sure way to check for leaks is to pressurize the tank to about 3 PSI and spray soapy water on all the seams and fittings.

What throttle control are you using?

Old pics from December of 2005, about 6 months after I built the boat. Inside lever is throttle, and outside lever is reverse gate control. And the small lever in the center that looks like some kind of tab, was the choke lever, activated by pressing down....no longer used as the newer...

    Indiana Jet Jon Build

I was wondering the same thing. If the tether is in place, it could be that the kill switch circuit is improperly wired, and it's cancelling out the stator/magneto? On a typical PWC kill switch circuit there should be 4 wires. 2 are normally open contacts, and 2 are normally closed. The closed...

strangest red drum I ever saw

Looks like some type of damage that may have occurred when the fish was younger, or possibly a genetic mutation of some sorts, if it was a hatchery-raised fish.

    Indiana Jet Jon Build

I wouldn't use starting fluid, as mentioned, ether is hard on an engine. Just pour about 1/2 a bottle cap of gasoline in each cylinder, and try it like that.

CUSTOM JET JON FROM THE GROUND UP

If you could find a way to run a large sprocket on the engine, and a small sprocket on the pump shaft, it would turn some serious RPM's. But you would probably have to beef up the thru hull bearings with additional ones. And it may reach a certain RPM where it begins to cavitate and lose...

    Backup Cameras

The one I had in my previous vehicle, I bought from auto zone, for about 75 dollars. The monitor plugged into the cigarette lighter. The camera power wire is wired into the positive wire for the reverse lights, so that the camera is on when the vehicle is in reverse, and no other time.

    Backup Cameras

Once you use one of these, you can't imagine life without it! They make hooking up to your trailer 100 times easier, and saves your bumper, tailgate, and license plate from dents and gouges.

    Gregor 1962 fxho project

You definitely can't go wrong with the FXHO engine. Mine has been an excellent power plant for my jet boat, and reliable enough, I'm not afraid to take it to very remote places, either.

after market temperature and flow guages on inboard jet

At 10,000 RPM (roughly 7,000 for non-reduction geared engines) I'm getting about 15 PSI, on 1/2" cooling hose, with a 155mm Yamaha pump.

after market temperature and flow guages on inboard jet

You should consider using a strainer. It's a lot easier to unclog one of those than it is to try unclogging the cooling system of the engine. Liquidized sand will pass through, but it only takes a few larger pieces of ground-up shells or rocks to play havoc on your engine. Like I said, the OB...

after market temperature and flow guages on inboard jet

Amk, get an outboard pressure gauge. Use a "T" fitting in your cooling line going from the pump to the engine, and then hook the tubing for the pressure gauge to that. If you are using an inline strainer, be sure to put the "T" after the strainer, and not before. Reason being, if the strainer...

Any Hammock users?? Camping or otherwise?

Another good thing about hammocks is that with my lower back problems, I find them far more comfortable than a bed or a couch.

WHO is the hunter and who is the HUNTED ??

On a similar note, that reminds me of the late 1980's, when the Lizardman of Lee County was at the peak of its hype here in South Carolina. At that time, we lived in Cherry Grove Beach, on the marsh, but just a short walk to the beach. A friend and me jumped in the marsh behind the house at low...
