WHO is the hunter and who is the HUNTED ??

KMixson, you nailed it! As a fellow coastal South Carolinian, you'd be surprised how much of SCDNR law enforcement time is consumed by responding to 'nuisance wildlife' calls. The real nuisance are the implants that move down here, disrupt wildlife habitat by building where things should never...

WHO is the hunter and who is the HUNTED ??

Sounds like coastal South Carolina, where the mentality is to **** and scrape, fill and kill, then build high-density, with houses so close together, you could borrow a roll of toilet paper from your neighbor by reaching out the bathroom window. And don't do anything to fix the 30-year outdated...

Painted or galvanized wheels for fresh water?

Galvanized will last forever in fresh water use, and they last for several years in salt water. Down here on the coast, painted wheels don't last long at all, which is why most of us run galvanized wheels. You could always paint them to match trailer color.

strangest red drum I ever saw

I have actually caught small redfish like this. Had to double check to make sure they weren't large croaker, as there is a resemblance, since they are in the same family.

ALUMA-JET- Duracraft 1648 SV Jetboat Conversion

Despite it being almost 100 degrees, I ran a little bit on the PeeDee River yesterday between Society Hill and Cheraw, SC. Water level is EXTREMELY low: We were going to go up to the fall line at Cheraw, but about halfway up, there was a shoal extending across the river. Even though it was...

    Ozark Trails Camping Equipment

I have a few of them in varying sizes from 7x7 to 8x12. Never had any issues with them.

    Tracker Seadoo Jet Jon Build

I used to run a top loader grate on mine, and it definitely helped with cavitation. Unfortunately, the open design of the top loader grate also allowed too much debris, weeds, etc to pass through and foul the impeller, so, I had to do away with that intake, and fabricated a weedless type.

    - - > Road Rash < - - Marine Grade

Unlike steel, aluminum is what I would consider to be a 'grainy' metal. No matter how nice the weld may appear, magnified cross sections of aluminum welds often look like a sponge. You can also see this where an aluminum weld breaks. Because it's like a sponge, this makes it far more susceptible...

    hull issues...need help

I missed the part where he said he wasn't going to use the UHMW anymore. In that case, disregard what I said about making up the threaded inserts. (But for those who might want to install UHMW, that's the method I think would work best) If you just want to fill in the holes, best fix would be...

Life lesson learned, please read boaters.

Bowhunter, you're VERY lucky! Glad you were able to keep your wits about you and make it out alive. However, had it been during the winter, the sudden shock of cold water would likely have produced a different outcome. Since I had encephalitis last year, being on the water is different than it...

Life lesson learned, please read boaters.

I may have told this one to you guys before, but can't remember. Anyhow, it was about 10 years ago on the Waccamaw River near Sandy island. We came upon several boats. One of them was circling out of control. Another boat was working to try to contain or corral it toward the shoreline. Finally...

    hull issues...need help

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but.....welding the holes poses the same problem as welding the threaded inserts. So, unfortunately, you're still faced with the issue of having to pull the inner decking and foam, or run the risk of burning it at each weld spot. And from my own experience...

    hull issues...need help

From everything I've read about UHMW, not many adhesives adhere to it, which is why it's usually bolted. If it were mine, I would re-configure the attachment method as follows: Count the total number of holes/fasteners, and make sealed, threaded inserts. To make them, I'd use some short...

    CastNets

They just don't make stuff like they used to. :| I was using Betts cast nets, but even at their price, and being advertised as the best net.....they suck. Main problem I have with them is the swivel corroding and failing, despite the net being rinsed with fresh water before storage. I've...

Yamaha Jet pump all-stainless wear ring assembly

The AAT cone does seem to make a difference in hole shot, and on top end. It uses a spring-loaded shuttlecock that moves back and forth, dependent on water flow through the pump. At low flows, the shuttlecock is retracted, allowing full water volume to flow through. At speed, water flows...

    conceal carry pistol

Satx, you've brought up another good point about concealed carry....and that is the liability that comes with any shots fired anywhere except on a designated shooting range. Just like a police officer, a civilian is responsible for each and every shot they take, and any injury, death, or...

    conceal carry pistol

"Top that off with all the sissy piss pots who cry that the police are out using the shooting range and all the noise it makes you have a culture that develops police who are better trained on political correctness dealing with a scumbag no matter what color the piece of sh!t wears on their skin...

    conceal carry pistol

Never tried to date myself....I imagine 'that side' of me is probably a mean b!+ch anyhow!! :LOL2: :LOL2:  All kidding aside, the reason people do better with a revolver is because its limited capacity stresses marksmanship, making every hit count. Whereas a large-capacity handgun...

    conceal carry pistol

Not to start a pissing match, but....... here in SC, most all of our law enforcement agencies, including DNR, DHEC, Highway Patrol, numerous sheriff's departments and city PD's carry Glocks. I've shot a Glock 17, and a Glock 20 in PPC, IPSC and IDPA matches, thousands of rounds fired....and...

anyone know how to quiet a two stroke.

I'm sure the foam probably had an effect on the sound. If it were me, I'd box in the jet pump, carry that outlet into the top side of the box, and then add rubber skirting around the pump. Similar to the setup on my boat.
