    1448 Pods and Jack Plate?

Sounds like you need one of those mud motors with the surface prop.

    Deploying a Minn Kota V2

Try some Ballistol……the stuff guys clean guns with. It reconditions plastic without harming it…..leaves a fine film behind almost like waxing a car.

    E15 fuel ... now we're done for ...

I remember reading something about this coast guard reg….. I don’t believe it applied to trailered boats…..or boats with portable tanks. The worst part about e15 is when it’s sitting in your engine. Older engines can be run dry when flushing….but new engines don’t like that. My guess would be...

    1962 Evinrude Speeditwin 28hp . . . Model 28202C

Thanks for posting that video………I enjoyed it…….

    Boat seats

I had a non accessible bench compartment also. I made a backer board of HDPE (Starboard) and drilled it for the swivel. I put stainless tee nuts on the bottom so I could change out the swivel if needed. I installed the HDPE to the aluminum bench with self tapping screws and som LocTite on the...

Do you have access to the underside of the seat top?…..or is it a closed compartment?

1985 Grumman 16' Aluminum Boat Restore

There are plenty of Grumman boats still going in NY and NJ. They are built to last forever………..Most of them were made in NY state. The company has an interesting history and ended up being owned by Marathon Boats in NYS. They brought back the boats for a few years but have since gone to just...

    New Tinneeeee

Thanks. I like to be comfortable when I’m fishing. The port and and back seats are the All Weather models with swivels. The pilot seat is the Nav short style no swivel. Extra cushion for when I’m at the wheel. I posted those top pictures back in 2016. I replaced the Honda with a 2017 Jeep...

    New Tinneeeee

Update……… I added an Evinrude tachometer and a USB charging port. Turns out the dealer was wrong about not being able to add a tachometer. The e-tec when below 40hp will not communicate with NEMA but it is capable of using older style retro tachometers with Evinrude System Check protocol. It...

Extend Tongue Forward or Bunks Back?

Keep in mind that any extension on the hitch ball side or reduces towing capacity and tongue allowance of the vehicle.Any beam side addition reduces the towing capacity of the trailer. However I do not believe you are dealing with anything that’s topping the scales……. Have you seen this. It...

    Trailer upgrades……

Just took care of it…..There is a gap now. This trailer towed the boat without that added roller for years now so I don’t need the structure. It’s just an aid for loading on and off so I don’t rub up the bow on a poorly laid out ramp. There is now about 3/4 of an inch gap…… Thank you sir.

    Trailer upgrades……

That makes sense. When I installed it I just put it against the keel…..It can turn by hand. However when reloading the boat it may not be exactly in that spot and will load….so I will lower it. My intentions for the roller was just to help guide the hull through an area that scrapes up the...

    Trailer upgrades……

I just replaced my bunks because they were rotting. Only 6 years old and used in the salt. They were carpeted PT bunks and I had the LoadRite bunk covers on them. I think that contributed to the rot as they never really dry out being carpeted and with those covers on them. The PT made the lag...

    Longer Aluminum Boats

Have you given any thought to a lapstrake design using coil on a roll? You will have many more welds but all longitudinal. The strakes overlap so your inside and outside welds are not aligned. Between the inside and outside weld (the overlap) Is double thick. The older heavy duty Quintrex boats...

    Baking Soda Flush

I have heard of this. However it was to neutralize odors in a fishing boat bilge. I don’t think it would help with the moldy stuff that cause corrosion.

    Rod Holders

Those look better than what I see in the stores. I have cheesy ones that came with my boat and they are generally useless.

    Second boat, added 2 feet!

That’s the “or something”…… :LOL2: With the direction it gets loaded it would be getting pushed on not pulled. It’s probably fine. My Evinrude e-tec is plenty newer and my service manual has the drive shaft as splined on both ends and it drops into a splined hole on a separate short shaft that...

    Second boat, added 2 feet!

No way it’s just a press fit. If it is pressed, it’s also splined or something to prevent rotation. I don’t know this for a fact but just a cylindrical press fit would eventually spin under load.

    Seat recommendations

Tempress has a nice lineup of seat models. They also make a swivel kit with quick disconnect if you want to remove the seats for security or to get them out of the sun. Cushions/fabrics are replaceable without having to replace the entire seat.
