    rust converter thoughts

Correct sir. It didn’t take me long at all to knock off the loose stuff with the wire brushes. I felt like I was being lazy not taking it down to bare metal.

It sure was fun back then though. But all my stuff was covered too. We had guys come in with lower units completely missed , electronics knocked off from spearing a wave. The prop shop lived us we kept them busy. Guys would forget to raise their trolling motor and come in with it bent under the...

    Why the carpet hate?

My 1984 I redid. I used plywood and penetrating epoxy. Made it into three sections I can remove with a couple screws. Then on top I installed male snaps the the females went on the marine carpet. I can take the hole thing apart for drying , cleaning , inspecting the bottom. It gets a lot of...

    rust converter thoughts

I finished a mower deck a few weeks ago. Did top and underneath. Wire wheels on a drill and some different size hand brushes to get everything. Let the converter cure for at least 24 hrs. Then Rustoleum primer and top coated underneath with black. After it cured a week I flipped it over and did...

Quality time. Out of five there’s just my sister and me left and she’s 8 hrs away so we miss each other. She’s coming to go fishing though if she can swing it. Her husband isn’t doing well and can’t be left alone and doesn’t want to get out for an 8 hr. car ride.

Back when I was crazy and running fast bass boats 225 was it until they came out with the 300 but my partners boat would still out run those. We also put many a pretty jet boats to shame. Rusty was the technician at the marine dealership I was fishing out of. He left a job of many years being a...

Yep ours is in the same closet as our central unit. There was just enough room. Had to decide I was done talking and went to the shop and got my BFH and banged the stand into place. Then the heater went right in. I put a pan under mine as well but it’s right across from the back door so it’s...

That sounds awesome. Mine hates to idle much. When we went night fishing I idled it the whole time out. I haven’t had time to burn it out yet but I can pull the prop and see sludge. For a pre mix it only smokes when I first start it. But that night it was smoking like a train. I’m thinking of...

What kind of upgrades? You fixing to turn it into a 50hp uh. I actually installed different jets in all three carburetors on my 1992 40hp Yamaha when I had to rebuild them. It’s got a little more pep now. Something I read about the difference between a 40 and a 50 we’re just the jets.

You sound like me in the middle of replacing all four rotors and pads on the Little Mule I just got the parts in to finish repairing our outside central a/c unit. I did the new water about 2 years ago. If you want to save some money in the winter invest in a water heater jacket. Ours doesn’t use...

I knew things were going to good /1992 2 stroke 40hp Yamaha

Decided to not bother my mechanic/machinist with my boat again unless I absolutely have to. I received all he parts today to upgrade my brakes on my truck. Since I’ll be doing that I have a vacuum/pressure pump coming tomorrow and a dial indicator will be here Tuesday. I’ll start working...

Way way back when all the telephone lines where being removed from poles and buried underground. It was one of my first full time jobs. I started off as a helper in charge of running a sharp shooter shovel. After some training I was an operator running a cable plow and had my own helper. We’d...

Thank you sir. This thread is going to be my painting guide. Thanks for the well wishes too. I’m all good now. Thirty years ago out of the blue one day I got so dizzy in my office I had to hug the walls all the way to the restroom. Then a horrible buzzing and ringing in my ears. It took a month...

They keep telling me there’s no catfish in the lake but I’m going to prove them wrong. You’re correct about winter time. We’ll be the only ones on the water where it’s deep catching 30 plus pound blue cats. It’s freezing cold until you catch a fish then it’s not so cold anymore. Putting rubber...

Man I can’t do that! Do you have any idea how much house work I’d have to do when my wife’s saw my shop that clean. I already get a rough ride for vacuuming the boat every time before covering it. I keep telling her when I get enough catfish slim on the floor then it’ll be cured.

Braided vs monofilament/ Sorry I originally posted this in the wrong place

They don’t confront them here either. They take what ever their camera has and give it to the police and usually nothing happens. Out neighbor is a manager at Lowes and there’s a guy that lives down the street from us that steels there all the time. Now he knows better than to even look at our...

Braided vs monofilament/ Sorry I originally posted this in the wrong place

I’ve had the same thought before then I’d snap myself out of it thinking that’s private land or I wouldn’t want to walk through that brush to fish here. Then just a couple weeks ago we were bass fishing and ventured into a cove I hadn’t been in. My friend says what’s that? I looked through the...
