I added this custom made console on my V16......it allows for FF, bilge pump, lights, power source, etc.... basically whatever you want to add https://www.tinboats.net/threads/my-custom-side-console-for-tiller-steered-boat.49626/#post-490040

    Replacing soaked poured in foam

IMO....If you plan on changing to a different type of foam, I would check on buoyancy, weight, USCG approved, etc. per cubic foot for the type of foam that came with boat from factory and any replacement foam. Apples to apples comparison.

    Replacing soaked poured in foam

Looks like you have a Alumacraft V14 or V16. I had a 2017 V16 and did a few mods that you can search for on this forum. My foam was in good condition. Like you said, not such a big deal to replace, just takes some time. Great boats BTW! Sitting in the rain definitely caused your issues...

Question on new Alumacraft hulls (V14/V16)

Not sure if they have no warranty....but logic tells me that may be the case as most Jons are used hard and as utility work boats, for a variety of uses including, fishing, hunting, dock work/repair, buoy setting, etc.

Watch Out for those Little F'ers!

Thanks for sharing with your fellow outdoorsman. Glad to hear you are on the mend and felling better. Good to see doc after 2-3 days and a fever is still present. Being sick sucks! I'm not sure how common ticks are here in CA. I don't do any hunting or hiking so I have no idea. Mosquitoes...

Question on new Alumacraft hulls (V14/V16)

Having owned a V16....the side boxes are for structural RIGIDITY. I personally would not remove them. It is a great hull, very stable...I only sold it as I wanted more storage and a SC. That being said, there is a guy in Europe that removed the side boxes and completely tricked out the boat...

1995 Sylvan 14 ft Classic Fisherman

Congrats! I hope you enjoy the new project and have fun. BTW...what makes the Tracker more difficult to launch solo vs the Sylvan?

    Toolbox Center Console

Yes, it deserved some dusting off! Vey creative on using a truck tool box. Obviously the wood stiffened it up....and the Mahogany added a nice soft look to the industrial look of the diamond plate. I just love these type of creative self-motivated projects....simple, yet thoughtful, creative...

Routing starter cables to reloacted battery advise please.

A couple of things.... You need to use a wet cell lead acid starting battery. It is recommended by most/all outboard manufacturers. I called Mercury customer service (and my local dealer) a few weeks ago and was told the same by both. My dad is preparing to hang the same new Suzuki 20hp on...

How many of you enjoy a decent stereo in a boat?

Back in my saltwater fishing and saltwater boats days (pre bluetooth speakers and Sirius) I liked having a nice stereo. I was also of course a lot younger! Long days on the water and overnight trips to local lslands..made it nice to have fairly loud music. Nowadays.....no need for my boat to...

Gator Guards Keel Shield on Alum. Hulls?

My Tracker has an alum extrusion piece (strake) that runs from bow to stern.

Gator Guards Keel Shield on Alum. Hulls?

I could, but it's a new boat and would definitely void my warranty!

Gator Guards Keel Shield on Alum. Hulls?

Yes, according to their website, you boat is on the will not fit list (due to rivets)

    Grease Guns for Multiple Applications?

I have average experience with grease guns. I don’t live on a farm so no tractors. I grease for maintenance purposes, which is not much more than 1-2X per year for the below vehicles/toys. I have and use the inexpensive off the shelf grease guns and they have troubles with leaking, air...

Gator Guards Keel Shield on Alum. Hulls?

My reference to concrete ramps and docks nearby was to infer that I do not put boat on ramps...I use the trailer for all launching / retrieving. The keel guard is for added protection to a commonly scratched/gouged area of a boat.

Gator Guards Keel Shield on Alum. Hulls?

I am considering installing one of these on my new Tracker Pro Guide V16SC. My local ramps are all concrete with docks close to ramp, and even the locations/ramps I plan on visiting (CO river) are also concrete with docks close to ramps. However, I think the added protection in a hull location...

New Minn Kota with Heading Sensor - Install ?s

Thanks for all the replies and great discussion. I think we all now understand what the heading sensor is for! NOTE: I've asked others, that have the same boat as me, and many have installed it up on bow platform adjacent to TM base with no issues, even though it is not 2' away as indicated...
