I think I'm done with Minn Kota

I suspect Minn Kota's are made in China, if not their parts are. China has zero quality control no inspections just make it and ship it. I currently am using 3 Minn Kotas and have replaced the control board on one of them. I do not think changing brands will really make a difference since they...

MotorGuide Xi3 (and similar remote controlled trolling motors)?

I have lots of good things to say about remote control motor. I fish on an electric only reservoirs and my minn kota ulterra 80 is wonderful. It deploys and stores with the push of a button It trims with just a push of another button I can set a speed I like and regardless of the current/wind I...

    Trolling motor

I will jump in here about the multiple trolling motors. I have a 1448 Tracker Grizzly it is a heavy boat but very stable. The reservoir I fish on is electric only so the slow electric motors are my only option except oars. The Grizzly is not made to row, I know this very well. I have 3 80LB...

    2016 Tracker Grizzly 1648SC Mods.

I have a Grizzly Tracker 1448. I mostly troll for perch and walleye with an occasional fresh water striped bass on electric only reservoirs. Added a rubber stall mat to keep me feets from cooking Added a Bimi top, it makes the hot days bearable. Added a backup camera so I can face my rods and...

Although lithium is a metal, do not treat a fire involving a small number of lithium batteries as a Class D fire.

Looks like from the PDF you would use the fire extinguisher to knock down the flame then sink the boat.

    If true, not good.

You are correct batteries are in their infancy and have been for years. The internal combustion engine probably will at some point become obsolete. The big problem is NOW, politicians that know nothing about anything except filling their own bank accounts are pushing legislation based on nothing...

    If true, not good.

Electric motors are not even close in performance, because of the batteries. I must use electric because the lake I fish on is electric only, it's a small lake by comparison 7,380 acres. The difficulty is the batteries required to operate an electric motor, the bigger the motor the more...

    Trolling Motor Mishap

I think you are complicating the tether, a piece of 1/4 nylon rope or para cord is all it takes. I fish on an electric only lake and have 3 trolling motors on my boat all have a cord in the event of the clamps failing.

    Home made Rod.

I build all of my own rods, started a few years ago. I enjoy making the rods all most as much as using them. Take your time do not skimp on materials and you will produce the best rod you have ever used. I am now starting the process of decorative thread work, no results yet I'm just in the...

    Rods made in America

It's getting very difficult to find rod blanks made in the USA but they still are available. Just avoid the foreign made ones and maybe the CEO's will rethink their purchasing flaws.

    Electric trolling motor

Of all the comments here what stands out the best is that there is no general answer. The size of the lake or river, the type of fishing you do, regulations controlling the type and size of the motors, the style and weight of the boat loaded for fishing. All this must be considered before any...

Help from the electrical people please

the ulterra has batteries 1 season old the traxxis motors each have new batteries. each motor has its own 2 battery system. I know that batteries should not be discharged more then 50% that is why my questions. I am attempting to establish the amount of time I can run the motors at certain...

Help from the electrical people please

I have a Tracker Grizzly 1448 on the front I have a Minn Kota Ulterra 80 pound thrust on the back I have two Traxxis 80 pound thrust. Minn Kota refuses to give any estimate on how long the run time is for their motors. I know that wind weight and current will change the distance and speed...

Battery for electric boat, us older guys or back problems

:D sounds like a well thought out solution, I see many multiple battery users on the lake I fish, its electric only.

UPDATE: This could be coming to your state soon

the lake I fish in requires that you sign an affidavit that you will not put the boat in any other body of water. No aquatic bait is permitted unless purchased from a licensed zebra mussel free dealer, I cannot find any doing a Google search. This is because of the fear of zebra mussels. The...
