Outfitting new boat with electronics for river fishing

It's roughly $100 for the nmea2k kit for garmin to yamaha. Garmin owns navionics but sounds like the rivers you fish are much like the upper potomac I fish where as no maps cover the area. I have found some usefull info from other users data such as hazards and you can see where others tend to...

    Adding 2nd house battery rewiring.

My center console has about 16" between it and the leaning post I have to lay on my side and shove my head and arms through the console door. Whoever managed to squeeze 3 group 27s and a 3 bank charger in there originally with all that wiring and the hoses from the livewell must have been a...

    Adding 2nd house battery rewiring.

Mass produced just like anything else these days. They used the proper wiring, breakers and fuses where they should be atleast lol. You would be surprised what I saw when looking at new boats. How much of it was the manufacturer and how much of it was the dealer adding accessories? Hard to say

    Be carefull out there

My initial career choice as an adult wasn't kind to the body. Docs been pushing for me to have a right knee replacement for over a year but I won't let em. Still young at heart but my bodies been through the wringer. I'd still do it all again though.

    Be carefull out there

Just a friendly reminder to be carefull out there. Spring is here and everyone is eager to get out. I recently had a o **** moment and almost went into a fast flowing river at the boat ramp. Was shoving my boat off the trailer into the water because I was worried about backing down the ramp any...

    Leak in 16' Aluminum Tinner

Any thru hull fittings? Have you tried different drain plugs? Does the boat have a livewell? Is filling the hull with with water while on trailer a possibility? Is this a riveted hull or welded old rivets can come loose and leak welds can have tiny cracks that allow water in.

    Adding 2nd house battery rewiring.

Finally got my 2nd house/starting battery installed along with the 36v lifepo4 tm battery. Hardest part was getting the 10feet of 4ga wire from the battery in my center console to the back of the boat. My boat has channels for wire and hoses but they were already almost filled to capacity.A fish...

Frozen or Stiff Steering? How to clean an outboard steering tube

Awesome write up! I've struggled with this on a old ski boat I had. New rig has uflex hydro steering so now I've got a whole new system to learn the intricacies of.

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

I saved 180lbs ditching 3 lead acid batteries for 1 lifepo4. Price was about the same I went with a li time but plenty of cheap lifepo4 batteries on the market now

Optimal jet boat for the fishing I want to do

Lakeside Marine in Harrisburg Pa is where my brother got his. Probably not too far from you. I almost bought a g3 bay 18 from them they seem like a decent dealer. I wouldn't worry so much about draft at rest the bigger boats are so much wider they don't draft as much as you might think. I can...

How many of you enjoy a decent stereo in a boat?

I catch catfish right under my boat in 8ft of water with the radio on. Flatheads and channels. I catch blues with it on too but I'm always in 20+ ft of water for blues. I don't have it cranked about normal conversation level.

How many of you enjoy a decent stereo in a boat?

Just spent the last 2 hrs un winterizing and organizing the boat and prepping to install battery switches and new lifepo4 battery for trolling motor. Was nice to have a little music to listen to while I worked. Mines just a simple wet sounds head unit with 4 6" 50w speakers but it's plenty for...

    Grease Guns for Multiple Applications?

I have 3 grease guns 2 manual and 1 electric. The electric stays filled with traveller's hd lithium grease for all the tractors and equipment. 1 of the manual grease guns is for axles/wheel bearings and the other is for moly grease for the knotters on our balers. Both the manuals are just...

    LiFePO4 Battery ?

I dont think you are. My new battery came with instructions on how to balance it with others before using in a parallel or series connection. A blues seas switch will keep batteries separate while allowing you to select which one or both for starting purposes. They make multiple applications to...
